Alvarez really has little power at the world class level.

    Round 11

Alvarez is stalking Hatton but not forcing the issue, leading with overhand rights. Hatton slaps his arms up around Alvarez's neck and Alvarez pounds him on the body until he lets go. Hatton's face is scraped by a right as he backs up. Hatton takes another overhand right to the forehead. Hatton takes a vicious hook backing up and almost loses his balance as he backs up awkwardly into the ropes. Triple hook by Alvarez. Hatton ducks an overhand right and then doesn't see a double hook to the body coming and takes it flush. Hatton can barely get a shot off this round. Now he throws a 4 punch combo to the gloves. Alvarez catches Hatton diving into a clinch. Hatton throws a right to the body and is chased off by an Alvarez right over his head.

Jose Cotto drop him and Alvarez wasn't able to KO him even with his hardest punches, Miguel Cotto even at this stage will defeat him...

Considering what a physical mismatch this is, making it the distance is quite the trick. ;)

(although technically he hasn't quite done so yet...)

That he has all the potential in the world is obvious.

That he is not the best in his division is just as obvious.

It's clear now, I don't know why I didn't realize it beforehand, that this whole card was a GBP-HBO shine job for their stable. De Leon had no chance of getting a decision, and Alvarez-Hatton for a title was a complete sham. They could have just as easily given the belt to Saul this morning. Hatton has a loss to a guy who was 9-43 for pete's sake.
Many more fighters much more worthy to be fighting for this vacant title than these two.

I think this is more of a testament to Hatton than an indictment of Alvarez.
