If this comes off i doubt that Rhodes will win even if he did well he wouldnt get it on the scorecards

:deal from awkward angles where you don't see the punches coming, alvarez defence is poor, wouldn't be suprised if rhodes knocked him out! he is way overrated and got hurt badly by cotto's fat little brother who is a lightweight

His learning technically is done , yes you learn more as a pro the further down the line you get but ultimatley if there still counting on him " learning " then he shouldnt be fighting on HBO , or for world titles . His experience needs to come against top level fighters as you say , he will learn very little from beating up Rhodes about how good he actually is , but he's 20 , IMO he beats the **** out of Angulo right now and loses a lop sided decision against Williams . Them fights will come eventually though , no rush !!

This is a good fight for Alvarez right now ......................

i don't think he'll "beat the **** out of angulo", and even rhodes will give alvarez a tough fight.

if rhodes cant get brundage then alvarez is probably the next best fight out there.

People only continue to get Alvarez more confused. They act like he is only taking easy fights instead of the big ones. Of course he is. He isn't trying to be the all time best just yet. He has loads still to learn. I don't want to see him fight any of the top fighters in the next 2 years as he may not be ready. I want to see Alvarez fighting exausted vets like Mosley and Cotto and fellow up and comers like he did with Hatton. He still has alot of style developments to do, such as defence, as he hasent really been tested yet. The people saying he's overrated aren't taking into account that he is still only 20 or 21 and that he has had one fight against a decent fighter. Let him elevate at his own pace. Maybe when he's 24 he might be ready.

I always despair when people trot out this line. He has only had about 10 fights at LMW limit against less than stellar opposition(Moore excluded)

The fact he hasn't lost means nothing

That said, he probably gives Alvarez a good fight before losing

Hes world champion. He needs to fight whoever the number one challenger is and if that happens to be williams or angulo then so be it.

If hes not ready he can vacate

Hoping Rhodes can win, but the most likely outcome is a clear Alvarez win by ud or late tko.

I sense something similar Rhodes really has to be able to hurt Alvarez if he is going to win this because Alvarez's workrate will curry him favour with the judges. Though i dont think his workrate is spectacular he will keep firing away with salvos

Ryan needs to be able to hurt Alvarez to gain his respect and make him wary then Ryan can try and outbox him and who knows he could stop him in the later rounds.

I still worry about Ryans ability to take an early onslaught from Alvarez I think Hatton has a very solid chin and Moore had Rhodes wobbling early on.

I hope Ryan can do it. He CAN DO IT he has the skills i think just needs it to all come together for him on the night and apply himself and maybe needs a bit of lady luck as well

Alvarez is shockingly overrated IMO. IMO THIS is his peak, and it's been spent fighting fat lightweights and journeymen.

Too bad but Alvarez has to fight the best now that hes champ, maybe it was a bad move on Golden Boy indirectly giving the title to him in the first place
