Please no one comment about rhodes if you have hardly seen him,
He's a bit old now at 34/35 but if Alvarez beats him easily, he is worth the hype

Alvarez is a HBO hype job being fed soft opponents. Remembered what happened to the last HBO hype job that stepped up a bit? Alvarez will suffer the same fate when he steps up and fight a good fighter. Rhodes...he's not a very good fighter.

Lol. You guys are on to me I have watched one minute of Rhodes and he is terrible, don't think watching five hours of his fights would change my opinion. Don't care about rhodes one way or the other but would rather see Canelo fight a live opponent.

Canelo is pretty average so i guess this will be an evenly matched fight.

did you ever watch the one minute when lennox was ko'd by mccall? or by rahman?

one minute does not make a fighter.

on a side note, did you see the one minute in the first round of the cotto/alvarez fight?

alvarez was on ***** street for about a minute.

rhodes is the first legitimate threat that canelo has faced. now for some relevant info as opposed to the dumb**** post above, canelo is now -1000 and rhodes is at +600. by fight time here in mexico, rhodes may go off at +750.

on a nuetral playing field, no ****ing way should canelo be a -1000 against this guy. two or three good shots and canelo may be gone. i'm sure hatton has given rhodes a few pointers as well.

Watched Rhodes vs Moore today, first I've seen him.

Looks sharp, slick, and can sneak some big ones in there. If nothing else, he'll cause problems with his movement, defense, and switching. Alvarez is good but he's not all that just yet. This is a good fight for both guys at their respective stages.

Moore vs Rhodes was a good fight, and Moore was a bad ass before that fight.

Rhodes vs Alvarez is actually a good fight (as opposed to the Hatton fight). But the undercard is a typical Golden Boy crap fight.

No he wouldn't you ******. Hatton is a welter and an average one at that.

I'm going to stick some money on Rhodes. Not that I think he'll win but if Canelo takes him lightly and doesn't train properly (like he did against Hatton) Rhodes could expose him. Alvarez is waiting to be exposed I feel. Plus the odds on Rhodes are ridiculous.

Watched Rhodes since he was in same camp as Naseem hamed. Back then he was "Spice Boy". Alvarez and his camp may find they've bitten off more than they can chew with the new improved "Old Spice Boy". :yep

Rhodes has come back over recent years and shown his mental toughness as well as physical, plus improved management of a fight as the rounds progress.

It looks as if they've really underestimated Rhodes. A good punt I say.

This is actually a pretty good test for Alvarez. Rhodes is a legitimate Top 10 contender at 154lbs abd has been a good run for the past few years. And he could cause Canelo problems, since he has good hand-speed and decent power in both hands.

I still think Alvarez can break Rhodes down and stop him, since I've seen him tagged, and hurt by fighters who are slower and less skilled than Canelo. But if he accomplishes this without being troubled, I think that's more of an indication of how good the kid is, as opposed to any flaws his opponent might possess.

The farce was the WBC sanctioning the Hatton fight for the title, when he should've been facing. Rhodes in the first place.

Everyone is in an agreement with that including me... but you can't fault the kid for accepting any young prospect would die at the opportunity.

The good thing is that this fight legitimizes his belt at 154 and if he wins, he will be the LMW champion of the world.... officially.
