General thoughts about this kid? It's far far to early to gauge how good and how far this kid will end up but he looks very talented at a young age, already with over 30 fights under his belt. I like his style, I like how he counterpunches in combination with fast hands.

    General thoughts?

  2. I was able to catch the 2nd half of his fight on Sat. and he definitely looked the part. He looks mature beyond his years.

I have been looking him up lately and he looks very fast and powerful.
Combinations look great and stays composed at all times.

He looks very powerful for a WW.
He can probably fight all the way to MW.

I think he and Berto would make a great fight in a year or 2.

Nobody can tell that yet. But he's definately one for the future, I love how he's gettijng all these fights in at a young age.

All this talk of him being ready fro Pacquiao or Mayweather in a year or two is an absolute joke though. Mayweather would stand him on his head, and so would Manny. He needs to get more experiance, but he can step up the competition at a steady base. He's what? 19?

Like to see him in with a Judah or a Collazo before that happens. We have to take into account that this kid has not looked invincible and his level of competition has not been anywhere in the same planet as a Berto. 2 years, depending on who he fights leading up then, maybe.

From what I've seen anyone with a good jab and decent footwork should take care of him pretty good. Combine the jab with decent power and Alvarez will be ko'd when he steps up comp.

That aside, his power and determination are impressive. He's very young and so the kinks can be ironed out. I see him being a force at 147 and 154 but I don't think he'll be great, just someone I like to watch. I hear he signed with GBP, hope they give him a good trainer and put some American slickness in him.

In his fight vs Euri Gonzalez Saul didn't look so good. It showed that a good stiff jab makes him look very bad. Now Euri didn't employ the jab until mid rounds but then he swept the rounds all the way towards the punch that turned the fight around. What I was thinking at the time was that Euri figured he could control Saul but didn't know where to take it from there, he was controlling him but unable to punish him. This is what I mean by higher level boxers would be able to not just control him but ko him.

Like I said though, Saul has youth on his side. He has a learning curve.

:good Thanks for the insight mate. It's not to late for Saul, he's like 19 years of age with 30 professional fights under his belt. I just hope his team are as observant as you and are working on new things rather than just doing the same thing in training. He won't develop otherwise.

I'm sure the guys at GBP have a whole development plan laid out for him. Fighting in the US is going to help him tremendously against the slicksters like gonzalez who I think would be the perfect sparring partner for Pac as he has Floyd's style and a welter's size.

The way GBP have been talking, they plan on putting him in with the Mayweather's and Pacquiao's fairly soon. That would be a big mistake.
