There is a long list of fighters who were the number-one contenders in one division, couldn't get a title shot, so moved up and won a title ... like Aaron Pryor, Jose Torres, etc.

This is pretty pathetic

I remember everyone was rooting for Alvarez because it was believed he would fight Golovkin unlike Cotto and Martinez before him. Even post fight he said he would fight him or at least I remember it that way.

I can understand if he wanted a fight vs a true 160 lber to test himself like Cotto fought Geale. If Alvarez say fought Lemiuex or Ndam or something like that in preparation I'd say great

But the 155 lb catch was the first major road block and now it seems the WBC will continue to play ball

I dont like Khan and he doesnt deserve this but I almost want him to win just to end have this blow up in Oscars face just like when he did that circus fight with Pacquiao but wound up taking a beating and retiring.

The middleweight title is just a proxy title for welter and jr welter money fights its quite damning that the "champion" is freezing out the top fighter

 

yes and no, I'm a GGG fan but a reasonable fan and I could see Alvarez wanting a tune up at middle but to fight Khan whose never even fought above 147 at a catch for the middleweight title is kind of a stretch of the rules

I think it sucks that GGG cant get the big fight on reasonable terms and he has to leap through hoops to get anything because he is that good but I can understand Alvarez going for a different fighter but Khan in no way shape or form deserves this title shot

 

I don't think Khan has the ring IQ to do what Floyd did.
