Whatsup Isal, hope all is well man :good

    Since this thread started,

Canelo has fought Mosley and Lopez.

Cotto has fought Mayweather, and has signed to fight undefeated top 10 fighter Trout.

Fighting Mayweather is more meaningful then Mosley and Lopez combined, add to that that in a few months, Cotto will be doing something Canelo hasnt done in at least 10 fights (fight an undefeated fighter) and doing something else he hasnt done in his last 4 or so fights, and thats fight a top 10 jrmiddle.

just imo but I think Cotto, going from when this thread was made and we last talked on it, is outpacing Canelos resume at 154.

Canelos last 6 CHAMPIONSHIP fights have been Lopez (x - 140lber) Mosley (x - completely shot, retired after this fight) Cintron (x - nuff said, probably would be his last fight if he didnt need the money, hasnt fought since) Gomez (x - welterweight) Rhodes (good win) and Hatton (x - welterweight)

So out of his last 6 fights, 3 of them were brought in from smaller weight classes. Thats crazy. One had one foot in retirement and did so after the fight, the other was 1-2 in his last three fights leading up to the canelo fight and was/is obviously done at the top level, and one was a solid, good win.

There is no defending that for a 'champion'..... thats just not good.

    Just imo

i live in mexico by choice because i love mexican people and the culture so i am about as far from a black panther as possible(mexican people by and large dislike black people).

i just happen to have a boxing iq over 80 and can see the fraud that is canelo alvarez.

canelo/josesitio was just wrong on all levels.

it was very bad for boxing.

No mames! Wilfred Benitez became champ at 17 years old, legit world Champ at 17, Canelo is big boy now, put him up against Martinez, Chavez Jr, Lara, Pirog, and since he like mismatches, put him up against Froch or Pavlik.

Canelo is good, but not as good as some make him out to be, doubt he ever reaches top 5 p4p status.

Of course he has talent. Every fighter in the top 10 of every division has talent.

    Good post.

Also, between Canelo and Cotto, it will be Cotto that winds up fighting one of these guys first.

I like Canelo. I think he has a bright future. However, he's been pushed as an elite fighter and as a legit threat to Mayweather. He's received these accolades despite being a JMW and fighting a bunch of WWs, JWWs and even LWs. In fact, his best win is against a current LW champ. It doesn't make it any better that they allowed him to fight for a vacant title against a C level WW.

One day, Canelo may live up to the hype. For now, it's understandable that he has his fair share of critics, all things considered. Pretty much every top level fighter gets heavily criticised anyway.

Cotto was a 132 pounder in the amateurs and when he turned pro he went to 140 i expected him to start out at 135 but he skipped that weight.... so i dont know where you get that he was a WW when he started out

and when cotto started out he was also criticized about his level of opposition but he has since proven himself and has had a great career you cant compared what cotto has done to what alvarez has done.... and until alvares proves himself vs top opposition he will continue to be criticized

    :hat

Cotto fought prime guys in his weight class. Canelo fought old/washed up/hasbeen/neverbeen fighters from lower weight classes.

SO then Canelo being 22 and in the point of where cotto was at in his criticized early career I Guess u can say Canelo is in that stage of his career so comparing them that way you can understand the criticisms of Canelo and he still has plenty of time to prove himself how cotto has proved himself and is now in the final stages of his career.

Hes had over 40 fights already, and he holds a world title. He should either give up his belt n continue to fight these smaller or older guys as he continues to get better and learn, or man up and make defenses against top 10 jr middleweights.

    Just imo

Who the hell is hating on Canelo?

Dude's a beast. I think it's about time to step up the comp. I'm excited for that.
