    The reason I give Canelo the benifit of the doubt that I don't give Chavez Jr. is because Canelo is only like 21/ 22. Chavez Jr. is damn near 30 and hasn't done jack ****.

    Canelo has everything that Rios has, but he also has decent speed and the patience and boxing skills to go along with it. There's nothing scarier than a banger that has patience. He's gonna be a beast bro.

    I only had to read the first sentence to know this is not going anywhere. You cant put Cotto and Canelo together. Have Canelo fight LIVE PRIME TOP FIGHTERS IN HIS WEIGHT CLASS then speak...

    It really is crazy how young canelo is though, pretty awesome to stop, throw away all my doubts and think about the potential that is there for him. Pretty awesome, I hope he stays active n fights three times a year if he can.

    I am not into that. cotto fought more guys with 0 losses than anybody else. he fought a lot of dangerous guys, hard punchers like torres too the most fast guys like judah or pacquiao. cotto gets 0 hate for me and canelo also gets 0 hate. both fight good fights and are well rounded boxers.

    Fighting guys with 0 losses isn't a GREAT feat. If you look at who those guys were and why they had 0 losses.

    We have living legends like Marquez with losses, like Pacquiao, and the Klitschkos.

    We have undefeated fighters as well, ready to be exposed, like the Pintos. the Abdulleva's the other journeymen or prospects Cotto beat.

    The point is, Canelo is right at pace, if not further along than Cotto at their age.

    That's being too harsh. Look at who Cotto fought following the Paper title he won against journeyman Pinto.

    Canelo was supposed to fight Paul Williams, then he was supposed to fight Ortiz, but Ortiz got the **** beat out of him, so Canelo fights the guy who beat the **** out of Ortiz....

    This thread was made back end of 2011...back then mr paper champion had fought nobody and 9 months later he still hasn't faced a decent opponent. World champions should have at least 1 good opponent in 18 months!

    That sounds like Mayorga saying, he'll beat Oscar cuz he beat Forrest who beat Mosley who beat Oscar. Dont work that way highspeed.......

    I'm just simply stating that Canelo WAS going to fight a very solid guy in Williams, but tragically the fight didn't since Williams broke his back. Then he was going to fight top 154 fighter Kirkland, but Kirkland didn't feel he would be 100% for the fight. Then Canelo was going to fight Big WW Ortiz, but Ortiz got his jaw broken by Josesito. So Josesito won the Canelo sweepstake. It's not like they weren't trying to get a top fighter in front of him.

    Last Saturday was supposed to be Canelo's coming out party but things happened. I'm confident that Canelo will fight and beat a top 154 guy next, after all, Williams was their first Choice.

    I hope you are aware of Ortiz been a welter,right? Coming from a defeat.
    Saying that Ortiz was a legit contender for Canelo's belt is a mistake.And he was ahead of josesito by the time his jaw got cracked.
    Now, Paul Williams ,that was the real challenge.

    Now explain this to me;
    Josesito by winning against a welter wins the sweepstake but all the jr MW fighting eliminators after eliminators don't have a chance?
    They told Lara and Vanes that the one winning in November gets a crack at Canelo's belt, do you really believe it?

    Ortiz was a huge WW. Canelo was a huge WW not very long ago. Also, it is in the best interest of everyone who will eventually fight Canelo to give him time to grow and be more marketable.

    Canelo was supposed to fight Williams, contracts were signed. Then they went after top 154 fighter Kirkland, he said no, then against powerful and popular Victor Ortiz, but Josesito ****ed his **** up, and for the record I had Lopez winning on my card. I felt his combinations were worth more than Ortiz' ocasional 1-2 punch combo.

    First post here so go easy.

    I think what the problem is that Canelo's a world champion and being given such hype, while not really fighting any real contenders/fighters from lower weight classes.

    Yes, he's ahead of what Cotto was at his age, but when Cotto became champion he faced opponents on his level at the time.

    I was very excited about canelo vs Williams, then also with canelo vs Kirkland. Tragedy stroke in Williams case and we know Jk was handicapped for the fight.
    Ortiz could be a big welter but he hasn't done nothing to deserve the fight.Not undefeated or coming from winning.Nothing,other that his war against Berto he's remembered for quitting against Maidana and his travesty fight against Floyd.
    I swear bro, isn't about hate at all.Sometimes I play some jokes here to tease the hard core mexs but I don't hate Mexican boxers.Just understand this; what's going on with Canelo and his belt isn't good for the sport.
