I saw many people claiming he was all hype right before the fight and that he would not beat Trout. In fact, I saw people claiming that Canelo hardly stood a chance and would be beat almost in the same fashion Trout beat Cotto.

Whether you thought he won or lost, after fighting Trout who is a legit 154 lb fighter, and giving Trout all he could handle and vice versa, do you respect him as a legit Champion and elite Jr. MW fighter?

    Or will you still hate?

Tons of respect. Officially submitted an application with Doc for a seat on the Canelo bandwagon.

The kid hung tough with a legitimate fighter. His head movement really surprised and impressed me. I hadn't seen it before.

I'm hardly a Canelo hater, but did consider him untested. Now there should be no excuses for him to fight anybody but legitimate 154 pounders. I hope he keeps this going.

Absolutely! I though trout was going to put the dunce cap on Canleo and dance on him all night long. Canleo looked like a shaolin monk in there compared to how I thought he was going to look. He was cool and calm most of the time, slipping punches and striking like a snake at times.
I thought Canleo vs Kirkland was going to be a dream fight... Now that is just a mismatch of laughable proportions. Even though I still want to see it.

showed great poise in not going for the kill when he had trout hurt presumably because there was no reason for canelo to expose himself as he knew that he was not going to lose on the cards.

the fight was not going his way(by most rational people)through six rounds(he was doimnated in the sixth round) and scored a much needed knockdown to change the fight and perception of the fight. if the knockdown did not occur in the seventh and trout went on to win the round i think that most people would be arguing for a robbery at this point.

it was a great win for canelo because he was able to overcome adversity and perservere.

He's still solid but very flawed.

Yeah I can admit I underestimated his defensive abilities. His head movement was great and so was his defense for the most part. He's also a showman which is great as well. I did notice some new flaws like giving up his position in the ring far to often and going to the ropes. The same flaws of a low workrate and suspect stamina are still there though. The great thing is he's still only 22 and should get better with more experience.

He surprised me both good and bad. His defense was good, made Trout miss multiple head punches on a few occasions and his hand speed; looked even quicker than him.

But his stamina really sucks IMO.

He had good movement, boxed quite well but did seem to run out of steam. Has some way to go to be considered a top fighter but has time to improve.

He always had my respect. I've been saying from the beginning that the Alvarez/Trout fight was a pick 'em.

    Only problem was the stamina.

But he showed good defence, patience, very good boxing, fought smart and didn`t rush in the kd.

Hard to say, i liked his head movement and his violent swings, but there just wasnt enough of it, if he had a high workrate even like someones like Hopkins he could be legit, throwing one punch a minute doesnt do you any good
He's borderline elite because of his bad stamina but he has nice head movement and nice lil tricks and feints

I posted before the fight that Canelo would beat Trout by forcing Trout to be agressive (something he is very uncomfortable doing). Canelo is smart, patient, fast, and strong - but beating the massively over-hyped Trout shouldn't cause people to think Canelo is unbeatable.

To put him in context, picture him fighting Golovkin at 154, he would seem pretty vulnerable IMO.
