32-0. Not bad for being 19.

It wasn't a terrible beating!.....stopped at the right time but duddy took worse for 12 and appreciated the chance. So impressed with the ginger Mexican, he has genuine star quality

    Duddy took worse?

No. Chavez's performance was impressive but he simply doesn't have the raw firepower Alvarez does. Duddy took more punishment, but not worse.

Chavez only narrowly outpointed Cuello just over a year ago. Granted, that was before hooking up with Wild Card, but still.

Chavez vs. Alvarez would be very interesting right now.

Canelo looked AWESOME that fight. Seriously, you could have scored every single round 10-8 for Alvarez it was such a domination.

Alvarez would beat the **** out of Chavez. I don't care what weight it's at.

    :good

This was a nice bit of dessert after a great Showtime program.

It's too bad we only got to see the main event, but what a main event it was.

Tomoki Kameda - the youngest of the three Kameda brothers, and the only one to remain undefeated - scored a win in a supporting bout.

Rigoberto Alvarez, the less skilled older brother of Saul, scored a first-round KO.

    Judge: Stephen Blea 95-96
    Judge: Lou Filippo 94-96
    Judge: Monique Rendon 93-97

That wasn't my personal opinion; on the official scorecards it was narrow.

It's a much less impressive result than a sixth round TKO that could have justifiably been stopped in half that time.

I know this fight is over, but what channel do they put it up on? I know there's some Mexican channels that put it up. Is it galavision, televisa, etc? GBP should do better in anouncing when Canelo's fighting because it gets confusing as **** and I've been looking everywhere to find it. ****!!!:fire

It's right there in the thread title, pal. It wasn't on television (at least not any of the channels available in the US); it was shown online at www.WBCBoxing.tv

It was a tremendous show. Every punch made you wince vicariously, and there were loads of them. This is one you'll want to seek out.

Check Youtube in a day or two. Supposedly WBCBoxing.tv should have the video archived for public viewing on the website by some time next week.

Now, Fred, you can often be loyal to a fault when it comes to Mexican fighters and Chavez in particular. I'm not saying that 7-3 was out of line but just about every report on that fight indicates that it was tight.

    Here's a fresh look:

    [yt]6GALhg-p-Hg[/yt]
    [yt]jeY4FD8iCNc[/yt]
    [yt]XADvVrxQU1A[/yt]
    [yt]XxHJVzxYikw[/yt]
    [yt]aOLZjTqz7fU[/yt]

A lot of these rounds were close enough that a range of 95-96, 94-96 and 93-97 on the judges' cards is reasonable.

Cuello backed him up quite a bit and was able to walk him into the ropes and pin him down several times, and had some very good moments as the aggressor throughout. His body language never showed that he thought he wasn't still in it. Chavez even landed quite a few of his body hooks and Cuello shrugged them off without flinching. Against Alvarez, he was basically in shock from the moment he felt Canelo's power.

If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, the Alvarez-Cuello fight is now edited into the first post of this thread. Go ahead and contrast Saul's performance with Julio's.

Luciano Cuello had a far more pleasant evening on March 28, 2009 than he did on July 10, 2010 (although his nose bled out like crazy then, too - he must just be prone, and could have some scar tissue in there). :yep
