But who's actually IN their prime at just 22? Baby Arizmendi had over 40 fights before the age of 20 (starting a couple years before Alvarez did). So Alvarez is on the same pace.

I bet the internet forums tore him to shreds too... :D

He is getting better with each fight, he goes to the body very well and is an attrition fighter but has power in both hands....I like him to move up soon and may be a great challenge for Floyd in the very near future

He is the same age as me. What a ****ing wasterman I am. :sad2

  4. I would pick Canelo over Mayweather if they fought right now. I think Al Haymon would make this pick too, or they would already be promoting the fight right now.

If that isn't a padded record show me what is.

41 fights against sewage cleaners and shot to **** fighters who should be retired, doesn't make you a p4p contender. Once he steps up, then I'll give a fair opinion.

If he isn't ready to fight top ten contenders/ top 5 he should vacate the belt and fight for it when he is ready.

Whilst he holds a title he is considered a World Champ and thus he has no excuse to not fighting the best as he isn't a prospect anymore.

Faded P-Dub. And what a great replacement; an average 140lber.

I hope Canelo doesn't go down the same path as Fernando Vargas.
But he does have almost double the fights Vargas had at that age of I'm not mistaken.

Anyone noticed canelos herpes outbreak?? Lmao wonder if max kellerman gave it to him. Lol

    i agree

guys like povetkin who are 32 years old and they dont want him rushed
canelo is barley 22 and is bashed every day

wilder is 26 years old, olympic medalist, over 25 fights against guys ranked 400 and up and "whats the rush"

Alvarez is bashed....and is 22 and has 5 or 6 world title fights already and wants only big fights

    logic around here :think

Since Lara boxed his friggin' ears off?

It's accepted that Alvarez was unlucky not to fight Williams/Kirkland/Ortiz for reasons out of his control, but his team could have got him a better replacement than Lopez.

Tyson and Benitez weren't given breaks so I refuse to give Alvarez any. I actually have nothing bad to say about him as of now. Stalled his career to have for once a solid opponent in his weightclass while he has a belt. BTW, having a belt means nothing especially when most "champs" sit on it and fight no-hopers. If a fighter really wants to be the best they need to step up. I just hope Saul delivers especially with the hype he gets.

People need to slow down with his hype. He can beat Mayweather? Punchers chance maybe especially since Mayweather is stationary now but nothing he's done has shown he could beat Mayweather or Martinez. Think he has a great shot at Cotto but that jab and footwork would give Saul a tough fight and again he's done nothing to show he'd beat Cotto. Anticipate him stepping up and becoming elite especially since 154 as no "the man of the division" there really. Suck to see people kill him if he does fail after stepping up like what happened to Bute though Froch was a solid opponent and put on a great performance.

nothing wrong with a youngster taking soft touches, but when you're holding a WBC title hostage and acting like you're the best, you're disgracing the sport.

fight the best or GTFO. don't give me that "young" crap. Broner is just one year older than Canelo and he just fought the best guy in his division. don't make excuses for this gimmick GBP hypejob. he's talented but he's not willing to prove it against the best.
