I hope tomorrow is one of those glorious days where the huge under dog wins. FACT: Saul Alvarez is ranked number one by the World Boxing Council within the 154 pound weight division. Though he is ranked number one, he has not beaten any fighter ranked within the WBC’s top fifteen fighters for the junior middleweight class. FACT: Alvarez’s opponent, Hatton, was not ranked within the World Boxing Council’s rankings for the 154 pound weight division, but still somehow landed an opportunity to fight for the vacant title. FACT: Though fighting for a 154 pound championship, Alvarez - Hatton was negotiated at a contracted weight of 150 pounds. FACT: Most sports books have Alvarez at -1800 to defeat Hatton, meaning that he is such a favorite one would have to wage $1,800 dollars to win $100. http://www.examiner.com/boxing-in-los-angeles/saul-alvarez-another-paper-champion-boxing
I don't think Angulo is the "real thing" but he would be a legit opponent. I never mentioned glass jaw.
If you want Canelo to somehow lose against Magic Hatton you better hope Canelo has a glass jaw when he fights Magic Hatton, because Canelo is certainly not getting outboxed.
One thing is for sure Golden Boy don't know how to build up young fighters. If they'd just let him have this fight without manufacturing this BS title opportunity not too many would be hating on him. So many are wanting for him to fail now, myself included. I dunno, maybe they're using the Mayweather approach, which definately won't work on an innocent looking ginger kid. Alvarez could be so likable without Golden Boy putting all this corruption and ridiculous hype on his back.
Oscar did the same thing early in his career, after Campanella and Valenzuela nearly cleaned his clock. He made sure he took the weakest route to titles (vacant titles, weak champs) and only fought the toughest champs a division above their weight. He's experienced at this
fact. mike tyson was the youngest heavyweight champ when he won his title at 20 years old. fact. pac won the lineal flyweight title when he was 19 years old. is saul alvarez a hype-job? currently, he is until he proves otherwise by beating opponents greater than c-level even if he is still "only" 20 years old. pac and mike tyson won their titles at that age against very much greater opposition.
Whats with all the negativity. So far he has not been tested and is just stepping up. This is just a fight to test the waters. Yes he should win pretty comfortably, but why hate on someone who is building up their career and introduction to the big leagues. Its all this negativity from the fans that makes boxers more reluctant to test themselves and take the easy route these days. One loss and your seen as a bum or Glass jawed looser. Its pathetic.
