Saul Rodriguez is a 5'8 23 year old Lightweight with a 20-0-1 15 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Riverside, California. While he wasn't a sensational amateur, he claims he was held down due to politics, Rodriguez said “Politics held me back.... sometimes funds to go to a big tournament weren’t there. My amateur career was OK, but I had the potential to do a lot more.” So he turned pro at 19 after competing for only a few years, since turning pro he's hooked up with Robert Garcia, who's incredibly high on his young fighter, he's sparred with Mikey Garcia countless times, and it looks like his skills have rubbed off. He's got impressive power, he just KO1 Ivan Najera, set up by his savage left hook that put Najera down hard, Najera couldn't recover and went down again and it was waved off, something Lightweight beast Felix Verdejo couldn't accomplish in 12 rounds. That along with a few horrific highlight reel KO's, this kid has a ton of potential and could be a nightmare for others in the Lightweight division in the future. So Check Out Top Rank's Dynamite Kid in Action. He's a Monster.:toney:toney:toney:toney

not that high on this kid or anyone else in the garcia camp nowadays. he can probably win a belt at 135 though, but he'd get owned by Linares, probably could knock out Flanagan's glass though.

I've been holding off on doing a thread on him for a while, I had a few doubts as well, but I'm pretty big on Verdejo and the ease in which Rodriguez obliterated Najera when Verdejo couldn't, sold me on him.

The speaks more about his power than skill though. Felix would take him to school.

Id love to see Saul get a shot at Flanagan so he can shatter that Glass and shut the pie-hole of that pansy Stupor Hans.

I dont think verdejo or neno are getting a title shot for ages. I hope they speed things up for verdejo, kids still young but I think he can beat Perez and Flanagan, not sure about Linares though, he might be too green still unless he cuts him up.

****ing Arum has more talent than he knows what to do with and he's dropping the ball with every last one of them, even Loma who he's actually trying to showcase, he's gone senile and someone who actually knows what they're doing needs to take over TR. He's letting too many diamonds in the rough fall by the wayside.
