I feel similarly, cannot stand mobsters and criminals in general. The guy just seems dumb and would get off on doing this sort of thing.

I think people like his style in the ring. Most of the time I don't care what fighters do outside. As long as its not murder or pedo, most time I turn the blind eye.

People don't become professional athletes, let alone professional boxers, because they're such a great fit for modern, civilized society.

I'm not going to be upset with a professional fighter for doing something stupid and reckless any more than I'm going to be upset with an artist for having stupid opinions.

    It's part of the kit.

I have appointed myself judge? What are you talking about? California State Athletic Commission ruled TWICE against Ward in separate arbitration hearings pertaining to efforts to break the promotional agreement and after that Ward went to court and lost the lawsuit THREE times. So on what basis should I think that Ward was right? Of course I didn't read the contract. But Ward signed his first contract with Goossen in 2005 and after 6 years he signed a new contract with him in 2011 and recieved a $550,000 signing bonus for that. Again, Ward had no problem with his first contract, that's why he re-signed to him. Now after the first contract was OK, all of a sudden after 6 years Goossen started to steal money from Ward? I know that Don King screwed over a lot of dumb uneducated boxers who had no lawyers by making them sign disadvantageous contracts but that is a different story, Ward is not like those boxers. Ward is not dumb, he must have used lawyers to read that contract before he signed that, so I find it hard to believe that he was screwed over. If Goossen was such a thief, why did Ward re-sign to him?

I know why Khurt did this, however there is no excuse for him. He didn't have any fight between 2011 and 2014 for almost 3 years, when he arrived to America in 2014 he could only fight tomato cans for peanuts. Most likely that wasn't enough for a living that's why he took his "second job" with the mafia. The only reason we talk about AK now is because Sam Soliman pulled out of the fight against Antoine Douglas, so Khurt took the opportunity as a last minute sub and beat Douglas, otherwise he would be fighting cans for pennies till this day. Once again, there is no excuse for him if he did this, he should have taken a part time job as a pizza delivery guy or something like that if he didn't make enough money instead of joining the mafia.

I'm sure there was a legitimate reason for Wards desire to leave the contract everything else is merely speculation since we don't have access to the contract and knew nothing of their personal relationship. Contracts aren't always mutually beneficial when outside influences have changed, if there is language that allows for re-negation and/or dispute resolution and both parties don't come to an initial agreement it could lead to arbitration or worse litigation which costs time and money. We don't know the particulars and Goosen may have stalled language discussions while Ward bleed money it's possible and we don't know.

As for AK I don't really see anyone promoting what he's been charged with but I do see plenty of folks automatically pinning him as POS because of his supposed criminal activities. Do the crime pay the time that's all....it's easy for you to simplify his circumstances and provide the outside answer by saying he can earn a legit living as a pizza boy. What if part of his obligations for getting the opportunities he's gotten are connected in some way to this crime syndicate. I don't know, there isn't enough detail but I'm certain he will pay for his mistakes.

If Saunders and Khurtsidze fight, Frank Warren should change the title of the fight to Made Men.

Of course there was a reason, Ward wanted to leave Goossen after he found out that Roc Nation was willing to pay him more. But that was no legitimate reason to call Goossen a thief in national media when the old man was dying of cancer. That was a POS move period. You talk about empathy yet you don't seem to empathize with Goossen, otherwise you would understand how repulsive that move was.

So you are saying that his manager/promoter brought him to America with the condition that he must join the mafia if he wants to get fights in the states? I don't believe it, but let's assume that was the case. If so, he should have refused that offer, no matter what. But most of the time that is not the case. Listen, I am from EE, I know that some Eastern European boxers (journeymen) who get knocked out on a regular basis on the undercards of German and British fights for a couple of thousand euros, work as debt collectors for the mob. Nobody forced those guys to do that...

BJS is a Christian with high moral values and standards.

What a shame a typical Brooklyn thugs unlawful behvior forced the fight to be canceled.
