I think this is the most interesting time in which that fight could've happened. Saunders was undoubtedly in his prime (I think it's fair to say he was too big and slow at 168) and Canelo was about to enter his. Who would've won at 160 during this time?

Saunders of the Lemieux fight vs. Canelo of the first Golovkin fight

canelo beats the crap out of bj at any weight. mr ''i would die in the ring'' who catches a shiner and lays it down. different levels. in lemieuxs best day, and gennadys worst, ggg is still levels above.

Canelo BJS at 160 in 2017 is like Floyd Vs Pacquiao 2008-2010

    It's a very different fight.

Just like Canelo GGG 3 was a sparring match with an old man nothing like their first 2 bouts.

4-5 years is a long time in boxing and BJS was very inactive during that period.

Canelo via UD/MD. A tougher fight for him at 160 than 168. Canelo's style was much different back then & would suit Saunders better - but he'd still lose.

bjs was never that good. ever. he got built up around here to be something hes never been. like happened with joyce, like happened with many others. a few vocal posters create a narrative, and the gang runs with it. all happy to blow smoke up each others ass. then they all agree what the best excuses are for why he didnt perform like you thought he would, and they run with that. and the cycle continues.

Bump, could a more fit version of this tricky southpaw have beaten Canelo?

100% agree with you. They met Canelo bested him and actually did not have too hard a time doing it. Two different levels.
