And going to be moved out of T****nd Park and held in Manchester. Had alot to do with poor ticket sales, which i find suprising as i think it would of been a great bout hopefully the demand stays there for october and an undercard will actually be announced soon...
I think this was always a fall back plan incase Lee and adam booth couldnt deliver. Im assuming the ticket sales where shocking plus planning an undercard in ireland must have been hard. Flanagan is already booked that date snd I thought it was ambitious to go from the smaller venue to the Arena in 1 fight...
Could tell it wasn't going to sell. Limerick was the big dream but nah, not a big enough fight. Manchester makes much more sense.
Would guess lee would want the same money guaranteed as he was for the first fight, ditto BJS. Would have to sell out/get a load of new subs to make it financially worthwhile, think this could lead to the end of FW/boxnation as I just cannot see a big earner for him round the corner, only possible ones were a big show in Ireland and fury klit but the first one was a no go and the second one they didn't make a move by all accounts and gave sky a free run at it
Never going to sell with the Butt Nation marketing team hyping the fight up at a Bradley Skeete barbecue.
Thomand Park was being set up for 34 thousand- the Manchester arena holds 20+ thousand so its hardly that much difference attendance wise. I wouldn't be surprised if the box office at Manchester still makes more money then it would do if it went ahead in Ireland especially as the cheapest tickets where being sold for 20 euros which is peanuts. You also have to factor in the savings they are making from going in a purpose built arena and not having to set up outdoors and the Extra costs involved with that. Frank never wanted Saunders out there in the first place so he's laughing. They are banking on subscriptions driving up to make I viable not ticket sales this is what is important to BN future IMO
In all blunt honesty the only fight he could realistically have made to boost subscriptions was the fury klit fight, even if it was a temporary boost. Can't see this having a significant effect on subs, as for ticket sales his last show at Manchester arena bombed and Mathews in the echo by all accounts had 800-odd people so I doubt they'd make huge money from ticket sales
Funny I checked Ticketmaster last week and they have plenty of tickets available in every area of T****nd Park. It's a shame, but I don't think the tickets were too pricey. The cheapest were €40 I think. Andy Lee has had woeful publicity in Ireland. When he won the WBO title it was barely mentioned by the national broadcaster.
To be fair to Irish fans Andy has a very low profile here. He is approx 30 yrs old. He lived the first 15 in London -moved here for about 5 years from 15-20 then was off to Detroit with Manny, from age 20-28 approx. When Manny died he linked up with Both - in London. He is not that well-known in Ireland at all. On top of that Andy is a quiet low-key, modest guy, unlikely to whip up much publicity for himsef, unlikely to appeal to the lowest-common-denominator, like say Conor McGregor.....
is this official btw? just checked eventim website and their still selling tickets for the limerick stadium
Really gutted it's been moved, I really wanted to go to this one. Frank is doing an abysmal job of promoting and isn't using BoxNation to its potential, sad really.
Are you going to be a man and finally give a prediction Closure Date? If and when box nation demise happens i don't want to hear from you jumping around saying i told you so. Predict the date NOW so we can hold you to it. Why you so scared?
