You don't like the book.... fine. I'm waiting for the day when your book comes out. So I can give it a nice review. "What goes around comes around"
If your review is as poorly written as your book I wont have much to worry about. In fact, why dont I send you your book back and you can refund my money. Oh wait, you arent Manuel right? I mean that is what you said in a post back when the book was first published right? And youve never heard of Cezanne either riiiiiighhht.
So regardless of what he writes, you're gonna slam it because you have a little sand in your clam about a bad review? What a ***** move. Some professional.
Wow, this 'Ketchel' is a f'n Mong :deal I won't be purchasing the book now, anyone this dwarfed could not have written anything worth reading.
I thought Papke landed a blow when Ketchel wasn't ready, hence the saying protect yourself at all times. Was this a myth? IMO, Ketchel is one of the most over rated fighters on film.
It's mean spirited because you are choosing to slam this guy, utilizing the internet as a sniper, when you do not have to. You are a true boxing historian and scholar, one of the most well researched and archived I have come across. You are in the top two or three percent in that category. You are not the market for this Ketchel book but many boxing fans and lesser historians may have much to profit by reading it since they do not have all of the Ketchel articles published in the 20th century in their database. If it is not up to your taste , so be it. I'm sure there are very few books from that time period that could be with the exception of Adam's exception series ... however to slam the guy's work like it's crap to an audience that is very likely far less researched on the topic and the proper audience than you is simply a nasty move and not needed. It sounds like sour grapes which bums me out as I have been waiting over ten years for your Greb book and feel, when reading you venting like this, that we are no closer than ever to seeing it published.
All of the negative stuff that has been written about this book, and the author is shameful. Why would anyone do "leg work" just to write lies? Someone does need to find out if what has been written is the truth. Ketchel has read, and has even gone on trips to find out pertinent, and truthful documentation. information Conway, MO library, Marshfield, MO, where he was allowed to read court ledgers, Grand Rapids, MI library, where the librarians helped him scour the archives. There wasn't a whole lot of available information out there, for a long time. Anyone who knows anything, knows that Stanley Ketchel didn't get a chance to reach his possible full potential. Why is it wrong to try and find out the truth about someone when all there has ever been is lies, and myths. I don't blame Ketchel for trying to defend his book, but he should just ignore all the negativity now, because you can't reveal a thing to anyone who is not willing to listen. Narrow minded students don't learn, receptive students do. Ketchel, stick to your guns. Your book does need some reformatting, but what's in it does not.:good:good
