The chapter done on Ketchels murder is the most interesting BUT Im curious if the author really travelled to Springfield and Conway or simply went to this web site which constitutes the vast majority of information found in the chapter. Its one thing to say youve done this and that and not cite anything, its entirely another to simply cut and paste, nearly word for word from another website thats already gathered all of the information: http://thelibrary.springfield.missouri.org/lochist/periodicals/ozarkswatch/ow603d.htm
You sound like a really smart and well-educated gentleman who's done his homework. :good It's called peer review. Something more biographies of all types need to be subjected to. I hardly ever pick up a biography anymore because most of them are just an extended literary dick-riding. Drop it, sounds weird and it's a cliche. I'm actually not even in love with the rest of the title (cliche) but if the book is half as good as I expect it to be the title won't matter.
OMFG!! You have a lousy, onry, ignorant, pompous, narcissistic, over filled with self-righteousness attitude. You probably drink your own bath water. People who don't sit that high on their horse, as you mentioned, would do that. Would it be too much for you to go work on your book, and stop burning bread on other folks work. Looks are deceiving. Your book might be just a heaped up, spiral bound mess. The pictures, a facade to purport your diligence. I thumbed through to the trial part of the book, and I have seen that link many times. So have others, I'm sure. No big secret. No big find, and it's not word for word. Would you have him distort the truth about the events that happened? It takes someone with venom in their veins to site and accuse people of things you could not possibly, in truth, say or know what did or didn't happen. Who are you? Why are you? Your book will undoubtedly be original because spinning and prevaricating is like a squeeky wheel. Bombastic and needs attention. I see that some people seem to respect you. That's just an insult to themselves, and this Classic boxing forum.
Whatever manny. Is there anything in that chapter not found on website? Furthermore the copy of my book that you see spiralbound is a proof copy. Somethinng you would understand if you had actually taken the time to edit or have edited your own.
Klompy.. James Clabby has never claimed to be a boxing historian. He is quite simply a very proud Great Nephew of Jimmy. For this reason, James dedicated time in retirement for the sake of writing a bio on Jimmy Clabby. A very enjoyable journey for himself to undertake. He also spent some weeks in Australia, just to understand how admired Jimmy Clabby was in this country. The sportsman qualities of Jimmy endeared him to all... So get of ya high horse. Give James some credit. This effort was not about greed or ego.... Through his efforts, an account of Clabby's life has been put to print. His book is complete. He's happy. Put your ego aside for a while, and get your bull**** completed before it's too late for Daddy to read.
So a guy who is not a historian writes a historical biography, I claim hes in way over his head, and you jump to his defense by saying he has never claimed to be a historian. So you basically agree. The account of Clabby's life is extremely poor. Talk about low standards. Ive said it several times and I'll say it again. If you take it upon yourself to set another mans life down on paper you have an obligation to know that life as well and accurately as anybody (I would argue that you should know it better than anyone). Why some people here defend the idea that its just a badge of honor to publish a piece of **** in honor of someone is beyond me.
I don't see what is so wrong with: 1)Complaining or criticizing anything you paid for with your own hard-earned money. That's the goddamned right of the consumer, and it applies to anything you buy. I don't care if it's a biography or a ****ing Playstation 3, if you put your money down you can say whatever you feel like. I find it funny that Ketchel is getting so childish about the whole event... But klompton still put money in his pocket! 2)Poorly citing sources or providing one-sided accounts of anything is bad writing 101. I'm an undergraduate student and I understand the importance of proper bibliographical dedication and a thorough review of the source material. How is it not important? 3)People are deriding klompton as an ******* on here when he is actually appearing to make legitimate complaints about the book. His language might be harsh, but not all lessons are easily learned. With all the absurd **** people say on here, intentional or not, a book/peer review is what you choose to get incensed about?
Here's a book that I heartily recommend: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/How-Win-Friends-Influence-People/dp/0671723650[/ame]
