But Ryan is a quitter doe. Most people critisizing Ryan for quitting on ESB are people who never took a body shot, much less a Liver shot before. Smdh
I remember when i was a sophmore in high school and i played bodies with this big ass dude in the locker room after P.E. and i hit him with a left hook to the body right on the liver and he went down so fast and turned his back that i knew he was ****ed up. He gave that respect afterwards and acknowledged i can box. I still keep in touch with that cat.
I've taken plenty of punches to the head and blows to the head from various tools, cabinet doors, walls, even the pavement and concrete from my skateboarding days. I've barely ever been wobbled, much less gone down from any of them. However, as embarrassing it as it is to say this, the only time I've ever left my feet aside from two nut shots, was due to a girl. My cousin and I used to wrestle when we were teens, and this is like extreme backyard stuff so we were pretty tough, jokingly told our younger female cousin who'd came out to watch, that she could have a free punch on both of us. Because we wanted to see how hard she could punch. So both of us tightened our stomachs, stood there and let her haul off and blast us with everything she had. She's left-handed which didn't dawn on either of us at the time, so she managed to hit us both right in the liver with left hooks. Both of our asses went down.
Not everyone thinks he is a quitter! My view is he literally could not continue and he could not beat the count. Does not help though with Mexican legends like Julio Cesar Chavez saying he quit.
@megavolt weird you never heard of before, but the video explains it well. You can never stay on foot after a liver shot. Sometimes it hurts less and a fighter will just get a count and a point deduction, then he'll continue fighting under some struggle, trying to survive until the break, but if the shot is good enough it's over, it hurts and debilitates as a groin strike.
I don’t remember him quitting. From my sad memory of it I think the referee stopped the fight as his face was a mess full of blood.
No I'm familiar with the liver shot, I just didn't know the extent of what it did physiologically. That image with the cracked liver...
I'm not sure that cracked liver happens that often if a fighter is down after a liver shot, but it definitely can happen and needs medical attention right away. It's just that the liver is so special, it can recover.
