American fans don't support their own in boxing for whatever reason, well they do but throw them under the bus when they either lose or do/say something they don't like.

On that note, I was at a fight in Chicago (the Calvin Brock-Terry Smith/David Diaz-Ener Julio card) in 2004 and Andrew Golota showed up. I spotted him and started to follow him around. He was milling around between fights walking past people by beer counters. I was hesitant to say anything, because he seemed to be looking for someone. And as he walked toward people, a mainly black and latino crowd, their eyes got really big and they all turned around and either walked away or pretended they were doing something else.

He scared the HELL out of people. Once he'd walk past, they'd laugh nervously. Everyone was freaking scared of approaching that guy outside the ring.

At the same venue, on the same day, Anthony Hanshaw fought on the undercard. And Buster Douglas was working his corner and walked around carrying all Hanshaw's bags and stuff after the fight in the arena, and nobody recognized Buster. I ended up taking some photos and talking to him briefly. But Buster was totally anonymous. (And he was very recognizable at the time. He was fairly thin. His hair was short. He had a ball cap on. But anyone who saw Tyson-Douglas (which was a huge number of people) should've recognized him. But basically no one gave him a second look.

Unless it's someone like Canelo - who has girls following him around - or Mayweather, where everyone flocks looking to get close to his money ... most people tend to leave fighters alone.

Honestly i would love that. To make millions and still be able to go out and eat and be a normal person without people mobbing you.
With that being said, Wilder is one of the most protected fighters ive ever seen in my life.

It's also different with heavyweights. You see a Mexican lightweight boxer you recognize walk by, and he's 5'5" and half your size, and everyone around him is, too, you might be more inclined to approach him or even just say hi.

If a group of 6'6" or 6'7" heavyweights march by with their big friends and they seem to be heading somewhere, you don't tend to jump in front of them and start asking questions. You just get out of the way.

I approached Derrick Jefferson at a card once to ask him some questions, and he looked like he was going to kill me before I explained what I was looking for.

Its not about being critical, that's fine and should be encouraged. But as an outsider, I see you guys supporting Eastern European fighters over your own.

Wilder will make hw boxing great again. He has already built a wall between him and anyone who could potentially hurt his fragile mandible.

He should wear clothes with his name written on em'. If that fails, he needs to start approaching people himself, saying something like "heeey, I'm a HW world champ, would you let me sign something for you... like eem.... autograph... you know... please? no? Ok, how bout' a selfie then?"
