He actually fought like a warrior against cotto, i think this is paulie's best fight of all time. he may get extra energy from home crowd also.
I don't think much of PM, he is feather -fisted and is easy to hit, I doubt Kahn has any problems with him.
It would be a good win, nothing great. Paulie isn't a great fighter to me. He's a very good fighter with very little pop, very good speed, very good skill and a terrific chin. But Khan is better than him, to me, in every way but punch resistance. He SHOULD win convincingly considering Paulie almost certainly doesn't have what it takes to do anything with Khan's one serious perceived weakness. There's a reason they wanted this fight...very good risk/reward value. I'm not running him down, if I were handling him this is the fight I'd want too. But it won't do anything to elevate him, in my mind.
I've got Khan winning this one. He's not yet an elite fighter but he will be. PM maybe feather-fisted but @ least he's got a great chin. If Khan can KO him, then it's on to bigger and better fights for him.
He could fight like a warrior against Ali, at the end of the day his most shining moment was a harsh and brutal defeat in which Cotto broke his ****ing face. Literally. Again at 140 Paulie is trash, the fact that his resurgance is from beating a blownup pillow fisted 135 fighter that he went the distance with twice and who split the series with him, should tell you all you need to know about him.
I am quite a big Khan fan. Been to a few of his fights etc etc.. but was really disappointed in him after the Prescott fight. Glad to see he is stepping it up and rectifying himself now. I think he deserves a lot of respect if he beats Paulie. Ok it's not the biggest test for him out there, but it will introduce him stateside and Paulie isn't a pushover. I would like to see him step up again and fight either Alexander or Bradley.. then he can consider himself a top JWW.
he doesn't deserve respect when he beats Paulie, he is supposed to dominate Paulie, anything less than a 12 round domination or a TKO/KO would be a disappointment. Stop trying to hype this fraud up for taking care of the business he is supposed to take care of.
It's a good win, but stylewise Khan should beat Paulie with ease. If he KO's him then more respect for Khan, but Khan should win by a wide UD. No disrespect towards Paulie, but stylewise this is Khan's fight.
credit will be as much as when Diaz, Hatton and Cotto beat Paulie. If he beats Paulie by trying to outbox him instead of a KO, he'll get more credit from me. That means he'll win playing Paulie's game. Then he needs to fight some good fighters with above average power.
You haven't watched much of paulie have you?....He is clearly not p4p material, but is a world class operator for many years now....He fought cotto when cotto was a ****in' beast at 140(who cares if he was weight drained) cotto was destroying people back then.....paulie was a 6-1 underdog and was expected to get KO'D easily in that fight, and wound up winning 4 rounds on 2 cards, and 5 on another.... After that beating he took, he won a world title in a near shut-out against n'dou.....and won ring magazine's comeback fighter of the year.... I had him beating Ngoudjo.....all 3 judges had it for paulie, and press row did to that night..... In the N'Dou re-match paulie hurt his right hand in the 7th round, after he shutout n'dou the first 6.....and of course had the hair incident.... Full credit to ricky for beating paulie....but he has since bounced back, you could argue going 3-0 in his last 3 fights if you count the first diaz fight....most observers had paulie winning.... Khan should be favored, but paulie is not trash as you put it...and is a live underdog...
I've watched plenty of Paulie and he is a good C level fighter, a couple of years ago after the Cotto loss he would've been generous to classify him as a gatekeeper level fighter, but the loss to Hatto and his struggles with N'dou and Ngondjou removed him from that category, at best he is a journeyman. I don't care about the sob story regarding him and Cotto, Cotto beat the breaks off his ass and broke his ****ing orbital bone and jaw. Again, I had him losing the first fight with Ngoundou and barely edging out the 2nd, but again this isn't **** to be proud of, if you are an elite fighter. The same with his struggle with N'dou, people make all these ****ing excuses for the kid, but he struggles against bums like himself. As for Hatton fight, remember this is a Hatton coming off of getting (in my eyes) KO'd twice, once by Floyd and then by Lazcano. Paulie stunk up the ring so bad it made that ****ing club fighter in Hatton look 3 notches above him. As for Diaz, I had Diaz winning the 1st fight and gave Paulie the second fight 8 -4, but that isn't **** to be proud of, Diaz is a ****ing 135 fighter, the fact that Paulie fought him is a huge ****ing joke itself, let alone actual splitting with a light hitting smaller guy coming off a KO. Paulie had moments, but his career is far for exceptional and he is far from a gatekeeper at 140. Khan should beat him and beat him badly if he is a contender, if he doesn't he is just as garbage as Paulie. The crowd didn't stop his face from getting broken by Cotto, I doubt they'll do **** this fight.
