    i too think pavlik is very beatable by someone who has a good technique and sound defence.It was a matter of time before taylor with his left hand by his waist was going to be chinned

    as for paul smiths chances like you guys say we need to see him fight the likes of bika and soliman before we can discuss him fighting for a world title

    Don't swear on something you are not sure about.;) Smith actually had about the lowest average punch power of the guys that went through, and a couple of guys also had higher max punch power (Max had the highest). If you don't believe me then check out the bios for yourselves:

    Im confused. First I heard the final was X vs X , then I ehard even in the US you guys are only 4 fights in? So which is it?

    Smith might do well though because of the Contenders system of 5 rounds and activity though. The lack of rounds suit Soliman but not Bika.

    The idea of someone getting a title shot based on winning the contender! How silly of me coz that would never happen would it?!! Have a word with yourself Contender has upped the quality of the 'contenders' and there is no question that the winner of the show will need to be world class. So the end product of contender is a name fighter whom will be proven world class and whom HBO or whoever will be able to fast track into a title fight. Given that Smith is a middleweight i'm pretty sure he won't be competing at super middle at the end of te competition..... So whats so silly about him being able to beat Pavlik who is a very average boxer with a outstanding punch should he win the competition.

    Contender to world title shot staright away seems unrealistic, and whent he contender gets beat it would do nothing but make the show look bad.

    Manfredo didn't even win the contender and got a world title shot against P4P one of the best fighters in the world based pretty much solely on his popularity on the back of that show.

    I'm not saying its the ideal career path for him but it could in thoery happen. Contender winners become household names and sell PPV buys in america which is all the TV companies think about. Its not like pairing Kevin Mitchell with Manny Pacquiao and for me Pavlik is an average boxer- extremely brave and likable but skill wise he's limited. It doesn't mean i'm saying he's garbage because his power, size and toughness are big assets but he's going to find himself outboxed in most of his fights against the best fighters in the division.
