And please don't say "he won't beat him", save that for another analysis thread. What I want to discuss here is a potential P4P shake up.

If he beat Calzaghe, after beating Taylor twice and Miranda, I would give him the #1 spot, provided Mayweather went ahead with plans to fight DLH and Hatton again.

If PBF fought Cotto and won, there is no way I would move Pavlik up. If he doesn't, however, a p4p change is neccesary.

    Thoughts on this?

no for me he would still rank behind pbf, manny (if he is successful at lightweight) and cotto (if successful over marg).

this would leave him p4p no.4 for me.

I don't get this post ACB? Why does everyone feel that Floyd is the only p4p ranked fighter? Pavlik is not even in most people's top 10. I don't see how he could jump all the way up to no.1 by beating Calzaghe. Calzaghe is 36 years old in clearly on the slide. I'm sorry, but no way Pavlik jumps up to no.1 by beating Calzaghe.

Joe would slide down a couple and Pav would go up perhaps a couple. Maybe Pavlik could go as high as 5 or 6 off a win over Joe.

He would still be 3rd behind Pac and PBF.

I don't make P4P lists, but only wrote what I did because Ring has Pavlik at 9.

seriously for me it depends on the fight itself.

I give preference to fighters who fight the best.

If Pavlik defeats Calzaghe, I will consider him the best fighter in the world on the basis that both Taylor and Calzaghe were P4P fighters when he defeated them.

How far he'd move up would depend more on how bad and old Joe looked rather than anything he could do himself

Whatever happens, I couldn't forsee him moving right up to 1, when he isn't even top 10 on my list.

No. Floyd Mayweather is my number one right now, and unless he screws up in his next fight, I'm not going to move him for Kelly Pavlik.

The only person I see taking the number one spot from Floyd is maybe Pac-Man, but it all depends.

    P4P lists are subjective anyway.

Definately top 5. Especially as it would be at a higher weight than he is currently and against a fighter who I believe to be stylistically wrong for him.

I'd be very impressed, but you don't get to be number one on the strength of one victory. Miranda is nothing special and I only ever had Taylor borderline top 20 P4P.

I have Calzaghe and Pac #2 and #3, respectively.

Pavlik has fought and beat the best competition available. I don't know what Taylor was ranked when he beat him, maybe someone else does. Calzaghe is still unbeaten and the man at 168lbs. That would mean that Pavlik has beaten the man in two weight divisions, one being the #2 or #3 p4p fighter.

At what point would you move him up? What would he need to do?

Interesting that you say that Taylor was a P4P fighter when Pavlik defeated him. Do you rank him lower now than you did then?

If so, then how and why has Taylor declined since then?
