RJJ is very skilled fighter. He started boxing when he was 7 years old. He must have atleast 20 000+ hours of boxing training. Its not his athlethism that got him far, its because of his skills. Its very unlogical statement that people keep saying RJJ wasn't skilled. I never understand it.
He wasn't the most technical fighter but to say he wasn't skilled is ludicrous, he developed the perfect skill set for his abilities. His right hand was hard to read, not just because it was fast but because he disguised it well. He purposely dropped his hands and leaned forward like Mayweather does to set up pull counters, he was an excellent counter puncher in general. In the Griffin fight he realised his jab wasn't working and switched to the left hook but was disqualified before he could capitalise. In the rematch he basically applied what he learned in the first fight abandoned the jab and just threw the left hook and blasted Griffin out of there. He was smart enough to adapt.
