I see nothing wrong with what Froch said. All he said was that HE would retire if he was Khan. Fair enough. Having said that, Froch does come across as a bitter man and has previously talked about not getting the exposure he deserves, while other fighters (no prizes for guessing who) haven't achieved as much but are bigger names. He even seemed to have a pop at David Haye the other day for retiring then coming back. He may not admit it but it must burn him that Haye can come back and get THAT kind of exposure while Froch is still not a crossover star despite his far superior achievements in the ring. Froch has also taken little digs referring to the "king" in Khan's nickname. What he should realise is that outside of the ring he is boring, and this is not helping him to become a star. No personality, very stiff, dry, wooden fella with a monotonic voice. No charisma. None of us really know him. He might be a great guy, but on camera he doesn't come across well. Yesterday I watched some boxing interviews. Mike Tyson, Ali, and Leonard on a talk show together. That's charisma. The other show had Foreman, Frazier and Ali together. When these guys spoke, man it was like reading a good story book and you can't put it down. You can't stop listening to them. Some people are good storytellers, some people are witty, some people light up the room with their presence. These guys can become stars. As for Khan's reaction, it was predictable and immature, BUT in his defence, Froch's original quote I think was made out to look worse than it did. He probably didn't realise this. Still, it's clear that Khan reacts poorly to criticism and he needs to grow up. He's not a teenager anymore. Just STFU and get your head down. This Saj ***** is another story. Too many fools blowing smoke up his arse. He has no media skills at all. Khan himself is not a very charismatic guy, but he did have the early exposure with the Olympics and ITV, is in exciting fights and does come across as friendly and approachable, like Ricky Hatton. Richard Schaefer's reaction was also a bit strong, but it's nice to see a promoter defend his fighter so strongly. If this had been Froch being criticised, I can imagine Hearn also being passionate in his response. These two fighters can talk about how there's no beef between them, how they're cool and everything, but there will always be some tension.
Khan and humble? Personally I reckon you got more chance of getting a nosh of Britney Spears than that happening.
Im not arguing Khan isn't a tit, because he comes out with some right classics, but im just saying Froch can't sit there and moan about money and recognition if he is going to slag off fellow countrymen, like i said earlier in the week he did a piece in the standard basically laying into Haye for coming out of retirement. What he said may have been brutally honest, may have spot on, but it makes you out to be bitter and remember any casual fan, who would most likely be big fans of Khan and Haye, are not going to like therefore not going to like him. People lay into Khan for making the same mistakes inside the ring, well equally so Froch makes the same mistakes outside of ring.
Froch is still probably annoyed that his trainer and all round good guy Robert McCracken was basically accused of being a racist by Khan and his family. After some of the **** that Khan has said about Froch before I'd have probably changed my twitter pic to the same avvy that Zakman has, the glass jaw pic. **** it, this is WAR
Edit - it's censored by ESB. Just search Rob McCracken and Haroon Khan.... there's plenty to read through. This is one snippet from a while back. By all accounts nobody from the GB headquarters in Sheffield will speak to either of the Khan brothers, and haven't for a while. No wonder really.
Shaefer defending khans glass mandible " anyone who gets hit it the neck is goin down even king khan" then a big pic of khan hitting garcia in the neck!
You won't. All the bad stuff was taken down off Twatter the next day. Now there's only stuff that hints at accusing McCracken of being racist, which frankly is complete bollocks considering that he selected Yafai for the spot that Khan was after. Of course the Khan's aren't smart enough to realise this and think that Amir's silver in 2004 entitles them all to a lifetime meal ticket. Wankers.
Let's be honest here. Froch the iron chinned warrior that he is - would not be KO'd like that in the first place - BUT - He would also not go out and retire on a defeat - That's BULL**** right there. Froch was having a snide dig at Khan.... and all those digging up ancient history between Khan and Froch are just kidding themselves. These guys had some issues due to comments Froch initially made about Khan - saying he won't amount to much (after prescott) - and then saying he was boring (after Kotelnik) - Khan just fired back, hence their problems. Eventually they had a truce. And last week on Behind the Ropes - Khan praised froch for his list of opponents and mentioned some of his good traits, when he was asked about Calzaghe v Froch - maybe because Khan just said Calzaghe only just - as he was prodded by the questioner to pick one guy - that irked Froch. Froch has such a big ego, maybe he thought he could get a slight dig in here. Khan was wrong for how he responded saying his division and opponents have been better. But really Froch reopened this argument between them with a bull**** answer. All those of you who say Froch was just saying what HE would have done - Do you beleive that? Even if we say Froch would not be KO'd (everyone can be KO'd) - Would Froch retire his arse on a defeat - would the proud warrior that he is allow himself to do that?
