"I can definitely see, assuming he is successful, that Broner will pick opponents after this fight that are among the top 140-pounders,...There are a lot of big names and many are promoted by Golden Boy, so they are easy fights to make." "At 140lbs, there is not one name Adrien wouldn't fight. Amir Khan-Broner or Broner against the winner of [Danny] Garcia and [Zab] Judah or [Lamont] Peterson and [Lucas] Matthysse, you name it. You can mix and match...He's willing to fight all of those guys, but they were not available. Not only is Broner willing, I want to make those fights. It takes a willing fighter and it also takes a willing promoter, and here you have both." These all sound like good matchups. These comments also seem to contradict Schaefer's proposed 5 man tourney.
I would have rathered Broner go to 140 and fight somebody like Victor Cayo and wait for those other fighs to play out than jump all the way up to 147 for Paulie in some gimmicky fight.
He's not making a two weight division jump for nothing. Do you honestly expect him to go there to duck everyone when his career hasn't even started yet?
I don't understand that logic. Cayo is an ESPN level fighter. He's already been stopped by Peterson and Maidana. Malignaggi is actually superior to Cayo in just about every way. What sense would it make for Broner to pass up Paulie in order to take on a no name, who is an inferior fighter, in a non title bout?
They both beat him He jumped over the divison, he might move down but he will probably face Garcia and Khan
No he doesn't. That's why this ***** skipped the entire division to take on a guy who couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag.
Broner/Khan would be interesting. Maybe that could be a semi final for this tourney. Assuming Khan beats Diaz, and assuming Broners beats Paulie. Semi final 1: Broner-Khan Semi final 2: Winner of Peterson/Matthyse vs winner of Judah/Garcia. Be pretty sweet!
This would be too good to be true, if it was announced id jizz Dont think it happens though, dont even think the winner of Judah/Garcia fights the winner of Peterson/Matthysse
It makes more sense for Broner and shows he's committing to 140. Paulie is a dumb fight he won't get credit for and Paulie is going to make him look very bad
