you know what. the whole blame game is stupid.

lets remove all the theories and look at it simply.

one thing stopped this fight, it was floyd's ego. and arum played him like a fool.

even if their was no negotiations, arum went public with this and told everyone pac wants the fight, and floyd has 10 days to sign a contract.

he knew damn well floyd wouldn't sign, and used the hype to build momentum for pac's next opponent.

but arum's shadiness aside, if floyd would've swallowed his pride and come out and signed within 10 days then the fight would now be happening.

spin it how you want with both sides lying, the truth is floyd had the option of going public himself and taking the fight.

so what if they never officially approached him?

so what if arum planned the whole thing?

if floyd would've come out and said "i accept the challenge, give me the contract" if he would have called arum's bluff 2 things would have happened.

    1) either the fight would get made.

    2) arum would have backed away.

either way floyd would have come out on top. but instead he sat in his mention thinking "**** the deadline, i will do it in my own time"

In making that choice he played into arum's hands, and he lost.

Arum said himself in his press conference that he was hearing an agreement was imminent where as leading up to his deadline he was claiming it was all agreed and just needed Mayweather's signature.

How much clearer do you need it?

    Yes.

Unfortunately, in the absence of anything concrete from people who do know, some others have put it upon themselves to defend Floyd, and these others aren't exactly proving to be the bright ones on this board.

Forget these 2 guys. IMO, only Greenburg can clear this matter up.

It really a sad story to the sport we love that one of it's current biggest name or "draw" is portrayed to the general public as a COWARD.

Yeah, because Arum has the god given right to promote his fights off Mayweather's name and should be allowed to lie in any way he deems necessary to accomplish his goal. It takes a lot of bias to come to the conclusions you are drawing.

the conclusion i have drawn is this.

when arum came public and said "pac has agreed terms" floyd should have called his bluff and pushed for the fight.

As i said, it could be that arum has been shady, but even that aside, if floyd would've gone public rather tha wait for the deadline to expire, he would have a lot more sympathy.

as it is people blame him, and IMO rightly so.

Other way around it seems. Pac called Floyd's bluff. It is obvious to most that Floyd does not want to fight Pac. How can anyone in the boxing world claim that they didn't know of negotiations? Please..... Oscar confirmed with his 'close' statement.

no, that is what i am saying. whether or not the negotiations took place, if floyd would have come out and agreed to the fight publicly then im sure it would have happened, or arum would have backed away, either way he would have come out "on top" as it is.

but is instead he stayed silent till after the deadline and because of that a lot of people see him as a coward.

No. If there was an agreement and it is true that Pac accepted Floyd's terms when Floyd did not want the fight, then he could not come out in public and accept. This is really what looks like happened. They never expected Pac to accept Floyd's terms. They called Floyd's bluff. Floyd folded. At least that is what the best evidence is at this point.

Plan A. Make demands you don't think will be accepted.
Plan B. Claim there were no negotiations, ever, at all, in any form.

    You really believe Plan B?

    That was exactly it.

Team Mayweather didn't think Pacquiao would accept the fight, if he had to give up more money and do the additional testing. That was their get out clause and they backed themselves into a corner by doing that, in an effort to make Pacquiao seem scared. Pacquiao called their bluff by bending over backwards and the result was this fiasco from Team Mayweather, which has led to the sporting world calling him a coward.

yes exactly, if he didnt want the fight he cant come out in public.

he did not come out in public therefore, for whatever reason, he didnt want the fight. i agree.

but people are now saying about all this lie detector ****, i am saying that even if arum was lying, all floyd had to do was come out in public. he didnt.

i dont believe he wanted the fight, whether it is ego, his uncle or whatever it is. i dont believe it is cowardice tho. but i do blame floyd.

he is the one person who always had the power.

either they had negotiations and he backed down, in which case he didnt want the fight.

or they didnt negotiate and arum played him like a fool.

in both cases he would have come out as the better man had he just been public in wanting the fight.
