Schaefer - "Hopkins has accepted Pascal's challenge!"

Hopkins has the nuance, knowledge and stern head required to keep Pascal at his pace.

I just think, at this stage, Pascal will be too active. Believe it or not, I think B-Hop will have to gunsling like he used to, dig in his shots, use his accuracy and timing to try and get Pascal out of there.

Otherwise, at best, he'll get outworked.

 

I think Hopkins has enough left to make it competitive but I think he'll lose on points in a **** fight.

I will not be betting any money on it though!

 

Simple really, In my view Hopkins is DONE! he's 'pop pop' status looking for one last pay-day and he thinks this is the best moment he's been looking for to pop up, against a style favorable to him.

His craftyness and defence stops him from getting beaten up, he makes it close just due to his smarts and style advantage but gets hugely outworked then cries robbery at the end. Just retire BHOP!

 

As I say, if Hop is going to win he needs to treat it as one last hurrah and go for it.

He's intelligent enough to land shots on Pascal whenever he wants. Pascal however, is fresh and riding the wave. He's gonna go for it, Hopkins won't be able to keep his preferred low workrate and win on points.

He will only throw when he's sure of the outcome. His choice of punches is nearly always impeccable. He has to put serious vigour on them here, as Slip says, his craftiness will prevent him being annihilated, it also won't put him in the best position to beat a fighter who is seen as 'on the up'.

Will Montreal stage it? I assume that will draw a bug live gate, unless they think it's worthy of Vegas? I don't keep up with the popularity stakes, but I'll assume Pascal is still a fairly unknown entity in the States, or at least hated by Dawson fans.

I watched Hop-Roy II in Thailand, it was **** regardless of the fact I was there.

Luckily about six rounds in I heard two English blokes saying 'Calzaghe gave him a boxing lesson'.

Needless to say, I didn't see the rest of the fight, by the end of it I'd told 'em about my iron chin, they called me a 'tosser' and walked off

Yep, it's certainly wearing thin. His academy award performance against a Roy Jones corpse was pathetic. It was brillient his masterpiece against the limited Pavlik...the way he took away his 1 and by doing so the 2. But don't forget he failed to commit enough to stop a dead man in KP. Hopkins has had his day, you won't find anyone more appreciative of his skills and fundamentals then me, but it's time to stop trying to steal PPV's, rest up, train up and comers, colour commentate and analyse.

 

Personally, I don't want to see this, Pascal has more interesting fights on the table; Dawson II, Shumenov, Cloud or Brahemer.

B-Hop should stay active. However, he should look towards the likes of Chris Henry, Erdei or Danny Green

 

Hopkins collapsed after his last fight against Jones, Pascal could end up putting him in a coma.

 

Fight wont happen. Hopkins is just doing enough to leave his name in the media before he converts what we already know. He is going to retire. He just doesn't know when to announce it.

I'd rather see Pascal v Bute at catch in a Canadian super-fight or v Cloud and then Dawson in America. Just so Pascal can cross the border and whup him again.

 

Pascal vs Bute is the best fight out there for him, both career wise and $$$$.

Hopkins might pay a similar purse, but the prestige is gone after apparently a shockingly bad showing against old ass Jones.

Bute needs to face a live fighter, Pascal needs to make a name for himself at home - ideal.

In the meantime Dawson sorts himself out and faces Pascal again later.

At the minute too many people are just assuming Bute is the top dog at 68 because he's winning fights easily - forgetting the fact that the others are all fighting each other in a tourney to establish supremacy.... he's probably got one eye on the winner hoping they've slipped a bit.

 

Hopkins would have no chance of winning this if the fights in Canada - he's not going to seriously hurt Pascal, can't out work him so unless Pascal is as limited as Pavlik, (he isn't) then I can't see how this is anything other than a bore fest.

All Hopkins chat is ****ing dull, beating a RJJ corpse, fat Winky Wright, ancient and active Tarver and limited and overweight Pavlik - wow. His best recent fight was holding Calzaghe to a terrible but close-ish fight.
