Schaefer: "Hopkins Wants Froch, And He'll Go To The UK To Make It Happen"

Bhop sees an easy fight.

 

Froch footwork isnt as good as Joe's as far as cutting off the ring. Simply coming forward and throwing shots isnt going to work. Plus Hopkins has the faster hands.

 

Because Calzaghe is so fast in terms of speed of foot, he was constantly applying pressure.

Hopkins couldn't discourage Calzaghe either, because he wasn't landing enough.

Froch has much slower footwork, so Hopkins could easily get away from him and he'd land for fun on Froch.

 

It's as much for the pride as the money here; it doesn't matter that Froch is less accomplished as Adamek and believe it or not, it probably doesn't matter that it's considered an easier fight for Bernard, either. What plays into it alot is that Froch's only the 2nd person to beat Taylor, and so beating him will be important to Hopkins the same way the Pavlik fight was. It doesn't matter how many guys Hops beats that beat Taylor, it still can't erase that he went 0-2 against him; but it's still a big motivator for Bhop.

 

What adjustments can Froch make to Hopkins adjustments ? This is not Taylor now who fights nervous ..

 

Who cares if he makes it to 12? Hell be getting his ass whipped along the way.

 

the pressure joe applies is far different to froch's. Calzaghes pace is more relentless just contstantly keeping you busy with punches( quick ones) from all angles. 'Clever pressure' usually with a lot of quality. Not simply coming forward straight ahead following him around. Froch, on the other hand pressure wise, is centred around hes big punching ability but knowing hopkins, he might be able to telegraph the not as quick froch----and not as a wide variety of punches froch

 

The other factor that matters alot is handspeed; Hopkins struggles when he doesn't hold the advantage there, and is a near impossible win to get when he does. Unless age catches up to him, that's an advantage he has on Froch that's crucial.

 

I'd rather see BHop v. Kessler.....it's absolutely astounding that BHop
(given his chronological age) is the favorite against anyone 168 and under.....mindboggling.....I think he'd school Froch....

 

Anyone who fights BHOP is in a no win situation. If they beat him people will just say he is old and shot. I would not fight BHOP just because of this.

Hops will defy his age once again (hopefully his last fight) and take Froch to school.

 

Easy fight for B-hop to win a title in a 3rd division. It'll be kinda funny if it happens after Froch talked down on Calzaghe and said he thought Hopkins beat him because if Froch fights the executioner, there will be no doubt about who won the fight!
