Would love to see Mayweather go back to 140 but theres no incentive for him. He brings the cash to the table.

You can talk about legacy all you like but not a single fighter you mentioned places it above money.

If Floyd could double his paycheck fighting at a higher weigh he would do it as he did before. Canelo, Alvarez, Pacquiao all do more for the bank balance.

You dont know **** about Duran. He first moved up to Welter because Leonard was the man and he wanted to kick his ass.

Too right. For a man who claims to be as great as he is, it was criminal for him to go away into hiding (retirement) when mouth-watering fights with Williams, Cotto, Margarito, etc, could have been made. And when he comes back, he throws up strange demands/accusations against an Asian midget who'd just popped up from featherweight.

He don't half make things difficult, does he.

its in his biography, i think. basically he was sitting in a bar in miami, overweight and drunk with a few skanks hangin off his arm. some dude said would you fight hearns, duran said na, the guy said il give you $200,000 in a bag right now if you agree to it and Duran being Duran, almost bit the guys hand off.

Thats a Duran story mind, and with him you never know what stories are true, or come with a bit of top spin

the part of me that loves the sport agrees but i cant help but feel that this is 'professional' boxing. i keep seeing former fighters on TV, slurring their words, talking about being screwed over, totally skint and thinking jesus christ this sport can be brutal. mayweather is attempting to make as much money without taking much punishment or risks - if people want to believe everything he tells them, fine. hes just attempting to sell the fights.

so many great fights that could have been made at different points in his career, but how many times do we see former fighters and shake our head?

Would you rather be the fighter who retired with his faculties intact, money in the bank or the punch drunk fighter who cant quit because of money, yet because of a great career has the respect of people in the trade and hardcore boxing fans? Respect wont feed his family.

Yeah, I understand what you mean.

However, as harsh as this may sound, I don’t think Mayweather is one who can be too concerned about all of that. Certainly not compared to most fighters, anyway. Because really, how much punishment has he taken over the years? Hardly any. He’s almost 100% unscathed. And in all likelihood, due to his defensive wizardry, he’ll remain like that with whatever fights he has left. He’s certainly not in the desperate state where he needs to preserve his health with carefully selected fights.

Two weight divisions below, smaller, older, slower. As opposed to smaller, younger, faster. Look at it objectively. There is no reason Floyd can't take the fight.

Cotto, Alvarz or Pac are the best fights. Guerrero is a ****ing disgrace of a fight and would show how much of a joke boxing is.

Even the possibility of Mayweather considering Guerrero proves his cherry picking days are far from over.Mayweather makes me sick with all his bull****.
