I really want Khan to take this fight and win impressively, though he'll only be accused of ducking somebody else of course.

He could do with developing an uppercut - it will help to keep people off him that aren't bothered by his straight left/straight right attack.

 

Khan actually has a great uppercut. See the MAB-Khan fight. It didn't land but Khan threw it with such speed. It was like a rocket .

 

Khan has too much speed for slow robotic Maidana. He may have immense power, but he will get beat to the punch and be chasing shadows till he is stopped on accumulation.

 

He needs to throw it more though, it'll work great on someone like Bradley who's much shorter than him.

Keep him off balance with jabs and hard counters..... Maidana isn't the type to go down without swinging, if he's hurt he'll just get more wild and desperate.

People should really give more credit to Khan for beasting Kotelnik and Malignaggi. Feather fisted or not, they're very impressive wins. Infact, they're tougher fights, they're boxers. All Maidana actually brings is a puncher's chance, which is the only way he could beat Khan. Doesn't mean he's the better boxer or the better fight, just more of a chance to knock Khan out, which apparently everyone wants to see. I wish him well, to be honest. I became a Khan fan after the Malignaggi performance, it was impressive stuff.

 

Don't you dare put Khan and Maidana in the same sentence as Herol and Julian, BB.

 

I'm glad Khan's not going after Marquez anymore. JMM is a brilliant fighter but is old and a lot smaller than Khan... nobody wants to see him take a beating. The fight would have been pretty big but Khan would be expected to beat him, and while Marquez's name would look nice on his resume he wouldn't get much credit for the win.

As for Maidana... well I think it's an easier fight than Ortiz would be, who has skills to go with his power. Not that Maidana is completely lacking in technical ability, but, fundamentally, he is a crude sort of fighter that loves to constantly wind up big power shots. He's easily read and can be nullified by any boxer with a bit of speed and timing.

Still a very risky fight tho'... Khan, while he has improved a shitload under Roach, still leaves himself open from time to time and has a horrible habit of backing up in straight lines now and then. These are the kinds of mistakes you can't make against someone as heavy-handed as Maidana, especially when your punch resistance is as questionable as Khan's is. All it takes is one slip of concentration and he's on the canvas.

I reckon Khan utilises his excellent jab and wins a wide decision in a Wlad-esque display of caution. But the fact that it could all change in an instant will provide a bit of excitement in an otherwise boring spectacle.

Definet :good. The sad thing is that a lot of people want to see Khan get knocked out but others also just want to see him not avoid punchers since he hasn't faced one. This Maidana fight would rocket Khan's stock and respect.

Yeah but I don't see him utilising the uppercut that much because there's always a risk when throwing it and has to come on the inside to throw it which I doubt he will.
