Testing will ruin the sport because you won't have anymore Manny Pacquiaos in the sport just clean boring fighters like Floyd .

at the end of the day, no form of federal, state or local government has ever existed within the realm of boxing, and the only time it has is when the mob had a vice grip on the sport and federal authorities used it as a clear example of racketeering. outside of that, the government has always been sort of hands off with the sport, and now that the sport has lessened in popularity considerably, I don't see the government getting involved any time soon.

the thing is, on a macro level, it's chump change. you cant even compare an entire year's worth of televised boxing matches in the u.s, to the revenue generated by a full nba, nfl or mlb season. in the u.s, professional organized sports is the cash cow and boxing isn't even on the radar. it's a shame.

UFC is even doing better than boxing in America. What's going to happen when Pac and Floyd retire. Who is going to generate more than 400K buys a fight? It sucks.

the mlb and nfl rely on the govt for anti-trust exemption, boxing has no such dependency

it actually wont be that bad for the die hard fans. I dont need floyd or pacquiao to continue enjoying boxing. it will suck for the casual fans because they will once again know nothing about the goings on in boxing.

I agree with that, but we have to deal with what is here today.

Universal or not, they should go to harsher drug testing. NFL and MLB do blood testing, boxing should be no different. NFL and MLB have more in depth urine testing, boxing should be no different.
