ODLH needs to keep contracting Heymon's fighters on a per fight basis and " shut the **** up!"

Where exactly do Haymon's fighters split to? Al profits precisely because there's a network bidding war and he can sell his guys to the highest bidder.

Burning bridges with Golden Boy like he's doing with the other promoters isn't a wise move at all for him. Al doesn't want to be a promoter; he's found that sweet spot where he gets the profit while the promoters bear the financial risk.

He bails on Golden Boy, and not only does he make less money, but the cold war gets split a 3rd way- Oscar and Bob may work together again, but Schaefer's not going to work with either. Haymon knows better than to limit himself to Schaefer, which is exactly what happens if he organizes a mass exodus of his fighters from Golden Boy.

The majority of GB fighters are signed with Haymon so if they split the chances of seeing the best fights gets even slimmer than it is now. Arum and Hoya on there own has shown that they will try to block big/risky fights inversely it seems like as soon as fighter sign with Haymon they get the fights we want i.e. lara signs immediately gets Alvarez, Matthysse signs immediately gets Garcia....

Ok, so Shaffer and Haymon make their own company. Where are they going to go? HBO don't want them. Showtime made a deal with GBP, not with Shaffer. So where will they run to?

At the time the biggest star in the sport was signed to both TR & GB that probably makes things a bit easier

I agree. Another thing is I doubt Schaefer would want to absorb the costs of being a promotional company and I don't believe al could since he's a manager. So they'd have to find another company, or look for investors.

At the end of the day, Al Haymon has the most precious commodity in the business: a self-contained stable with enough big name, top tier fighters to fill out TV dates and boxing cards on its own. He is a promoters' and network's dream.

The name on the promotional banner won't matter nearly as much. A halfway competent promoter should be able to make money promoting Haymon's stable. Being the promoter of Haymon's stable instantly makes you a player in the boxing landscape. Imagine what a Don King could do if he walked into HBO or Showtime's office with the leverage of having that sort of stable and ready made cards at his disposal.

    Haymon wil be okay.

And that's precisely what a manager is supposed to do and precisely what promoters should be doing. Promoters are supposed to make their money by making the event as profitable as possible, not by controlling the careers of fighters.

The smart money says that Schaefer waits out the non-compete clause, uses his connections and relationships to start his own promotional company (or joins Mayweather Promotions), and Haymon and Schaefer continue their lucrative partnership.

Fighters understand who's buttering their bread. And Haymon, right now, is winning like a mofo.

it's just co-promotion. It would not merge GBP with TR. It would lead to more options for their roster. GBP and TR would rather keep it inhouse but if there are great fights to be made, they would not be limited by the Cold war. Schaefer for the past years have vowed not to work with TR but Arum it seems to be ok with working with GBP and Oscar too with TR.

Well Pac is now exclusive to TR and both Arum and Hoya seened to want to work again together. Back then, the best welterweights were fighting each other not limited by promotional companies.

But what I'm getting at is even if the cold war ends if they decide to take all off Haymon fighters and go out on there own we would get even fewer big fights almost every top name in boxing or future star is managed by Haymon

im a floyd fan...i think schaefer has done a very good job at golden boy...i dont side with him because i like floyd...i side with him because hes been running the day to day operations there and is well liked....while oscar is just a face who jumps in and out when he wants....and comes running back now that hes sober acting like he wants to run things....which i think is bs.

id love co promoted cards just as much as anyone...and all the best fights.....but what ive seen...what i understand is that schaefer just doesnt wanna do business with bob anymore...he has said in the past he wanted to and was willing to....but bob has made things personal and acted like a ****ing insane baby....and its made richard unwilling to try and continue a relationship.....and quite frankly richard doesnt need bob or his stable of fighters to help golden boy be successful...

theres a cold war for a reason....for several...its just this way...it sucks...but realize arum has had alot to do with it....his antics...his verbal jabs....when they tried to do business for a donaire/mares fight bob came at schaefer like this "ok well donaire is the a-side...much bigger ...so were gonna give you step aside money and we promote the card ourselves here at TR....this will be our show...you can have your name on the banner....here mares gettin **** money too"

basically bob acting like hes god and hes the ****ing man....bob didnt like it too much when floyd called manny basically offering him the same type of deal that arum offered gb for the donaire/mares fight....
