    Learn to read.

The 50/50 is the first offer thrown on the table by either party........Shafaer threw out the first figure knowing full well that if Arum wanted the fight for Pac, he then throws out a counteroffer.

When a promoter is negotiating for his fighter, he throws out a highball offer.....it then gets countered, ........from their you start what is called a negotiation to work toward making a fight happening.

Arum is not stating that he made a counteroffer.
In fact, Shafaer states in that article that Arum did'nt counter with an offer.

The article pretty much makes it clear that Arum is'nt in speaking terms with Shafaer. So there really was'nt a negotiation that took place.

Arum is'nt negotiating with Shafaer because he wants to keep Pac's fights in house. That much has been pretty clear for Pac's last few fights.

If true, then that may not be the only reason why arum isn't making any counter offer.

I understand the process of throwing a high figure to start a negotiation, but according to the article Shaeffer "insisted" on a 50/50 split. This was further confirmed 7 months after. If this was an honest to goodness offer, then, a bigger split offer in Pac's favor should have been made. This was probably the reason why no counter offer (assuming this to be true) was made since Top Rank probably believed that the Marquez camp was not serious in making the fight with this ridiculous insistence of a 50/50 split.

And the fact that it was Arum who approached Schaeffer for 3rd fight with Marquez, then, all the talks about Pac is "ducking" Marquez lost its ground even without taking into account that they had already fought twice.

I don't think that's the case. If it was, then Schaefer would have employed the same level of testing for Marquez/Diaz fight, as well as all his other fighters.

It's simple what he's doing here. By asking for random testing and a laughable 50/50 split, Schaefer is happily putting in an offer which he knows will be rejected. I doubt for one minute he'll be letting Marquez have his career ended against a fighter from a another promotional firm, in a fight which they will have to share the revenue.

Instead, why not risk Marquez against a fighter from their own promotional banner (Amir Khan), make it an in house fight, and keep all the money. He's simply taking a page out of Arum's book.
    • Fight Pacquiao - He'll lose a star, and recieve a limited amount of money for it.
    • FIght Khan - He'll lose a star, gain another (Khan), and make a shed loads of money.

    Get off Pacquiao's nutsack!

Arum is talking about Shafaer asking for 50/50 for a Marquez fight when the first Mayweather/Pac negotiations broke down over the drug testing issue........
When those Mayweather negotiations broke down, Arum inquired about a possible third Marquez fight.
Shafaer told Arum he wanted 50/50 and the same drug testing that Mayweather was asking.........

........obviously here Shafaer is still wanting to make the bigger money fight in Mayweather-Pac come to fruition, that he insists that Pac go through the same OSDT procedure for Pac against anyone of his fighters.
......obviously Arum was'nt serious about a third Marquez fight even back then, or we the public would have heard from Arum's mouth that he had offered Marquez a specified amount of money.

The only thing we heard from Arum was, "they're demanding 50/50........but we're not hearing from him what his counteroffer was.
......I'd be willing to bet that if Arum made a counteroffer for a Marquez fight after the first Mayweather-Pac negotiations fell apart, they were 10x more ridiculous than the 50% Shafaer threw out as a first draft highball offer.

C'mon now, you'd have to be a complete moronic, Arum dick sucking ******* to believe that Shafaer would seriously insist on Marquez getting 50% of a purse split vs Pacquiao.
......and we know of Arum's reputation for lying.
Arum does'nt even bother to stretch the truth, he just outright lies.

im sure marqez will back down on 50-50,but the fight wont happen with the random blood test.the pacman camp wont stand for that.all his opponents should ask for the same thing.looks like he'll fight guys who wont ask

Listen, be reasonable here. There is no reason to have random drug testing the way they test now if neither fighter asks for them........

Now, having said that, I'm telling you right now I'd have a problem if Juan Diaz had asked for both he and Marquez to go through OSDT for their rematch and Marquez had turned that stipulation down.

......as much, I'll have a problem with any fighter turning down a drug test for any championship fight.

.......but my point is that if neither combatant asks for the testing, why should you have a problem with it not happening?

Mayweather asked Mosley for the extra testing, and he did'nt turn it down.
......as I hear, Cotto as a stipulation for a rematch to take place with Pac, asked that OSDT be done for it, Arum who promotes both Cotto and Pacquiao, moved to another one of his fighters under fire from US boxing commisions and has no leverage to ask for any of this testing from Pac....Antonio Margarito.

jmm fought pac without these additional test. i'm sure only pussies would demand that test to fight pacquiao. and why does schaefer thinks 50-50 is fair for pac-jmm when they low-balled jmm before giving him around 15% against floyd. but of course they paid for floyd's weight penalty when floyd can't amke the agreed catchweight.
