Don't you get it - he's intending on fighting an elite boxer later in the year - if you're actually being objective about it - you'd save your reservations instead of being negative without any justification. In fact, what you're saying makes no sense at all.

Khan has a tune up in a month or so - a tune-up nobody expected him to take because it's so close this victory.

Following on from that - he'll give you the fight you're craving.

Most people only expected one fight....the Maidana one..and it appears you will get it.

    What's to complain about?!

Keep your toys in the pram...and wait till end of the year....before you think about throwing them out.

Apparently Maidana is next - like - before the end of the year type next...

    Is that okay by you?

I know your post wasn't directed at me but that match would be infinately better than a match with Katsidis.

I would expect Khan to win that fight but be tested. Against Katsidis, a guy who fights at 135lbs. and isn't all that great there, it would be a "what's the point?" match.

Mate, Khan is still green and MANY would agree with me that Khan is still a tiny bit below the big dogs, so what's wrong with the fight?

Khan wasn't going to fight for at least another 6 months or so anyway so there's nothing wrong with it. It would show his improvements and improve his game more.

My objectivity lets me know that there is no reason for Khan to even be considering fighting a scrub 135 fighter after the Paulie fight. Its time to fight a legit 140 fighter, end of discussion.

He is below the big dogs...meaning Alexander and Bradley in my opinion. But most would put him THIRD. And I'm tired of hearing "he's only 23"(which I know you didn't say, so I'm not addressing you when I say that) Alexander is only 23 as well.

So what's wrong with a fight with Katsidis? Well, he fights in the weight class below him and isn't even anything special there. He was taken out by Juan Diaz and Diaz isn't exactly a power puncher. He'll let you hit him as much as he'll hit you(though he's gotten a little better defensively over the years). He fights one way, and one way only. It's the equivalent of an easy, easy tuneup fight. It will be target practice. It just seems really pointless.

Katsidis is an easy stay-busy fight. Its better than staying inactive. You don't fight a guy like Bradley or Alexander in July if you just fought in May.

I'll never understand how a fighter gets less credit for staying active against a less than stellar opponent than staying inactive for a long period.

Mate, I get your point but with the thing with Khan is that people want to see him get knocked out. Katsidis is a puncher.

And Khan wouldn't have fought for the next 5-6 months or so anyway because he was saying he's going to take a break. But he wants a fight before Ramadan (A month where you fast) So why not? It would help Khan improve his game and would take away some of the questions about Khan dodging punchers. 135 pounds or not, he still has more than a punchers chance.

And on top of that, everyone in Britian was saying Khan should fight Kevin Mitchell (The guy who Katsidis sparked last night) so now that's gutsy for Khan to even get in and in such short amount of time after a fight.

Either way, there's nothing wrong with it IMO. He wouldn't have faced the top dog in the 2months time anyway so there's nothing wrong with this.

I'd love it if you actually made a thread on what you said, because trying to win these haters over just seems impossible. I mean seriously, hate to a limit, but then it's just plain stupidity and ******edness.

Agreed that you don't do something dumb like that, but wouldn't you want a stay busy fight in your own division? I mean if you want a nothing-special fighter to tune up against wouldn't you want it to be in your own division to at least throw a veil on the fact that it's a tune-up? There's a Mabuza and Peterson out there too. Or would Peterson be considered too dangerous (I honestly don't know, but I watched him get torched by Bradley).

Not completely pointless - especially since a Mitchell - Khan domestic fight was being talked about last week.

Katsidis has just make himself known to the the British public by pummelling one of the isles biggest prospects.

It's clearly a case of....wait till November for one fight.

Or have a tune-up that's not too dangerous but still somewhat of a challenge against a game opponent and then the fight everyone wants to see.

I'd rather have him fight twice more this year....and it's been made clear that there isn't enough prep and promotion time for an elite fighter, the Katsidis route leading to the elite fight against Maidana who also...fights one way only... seems sensible.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

We get two fights, and all the doubters will hopefully get the big one before Santa takes a nibble from the cookie they leave him this Christmas.

If "tomato" Khan wants a tuneup then go avenge his 54 second KTFO defeat against his daddy Prescott.

And mate I get your point. But I don't agree that Katsidis is much of a puncher at 140lbs and it will be target practice for Khan.

I'm not hating on him. I get it's a process and I get he wants to fight before Ramadan and I get that it's a tuneup fight. Still, it would just appear better to have a lesser talented 140lber. in there than a lesser talented 135lber. That's all I'm saying. If you disagree, that's fine. But to me, it would at least seem better to kick Mabuza's ass or Peterson's ass, than watching him destroy a much smaller fighter.

Katsidis just KTFO a British fighter in London in front of a crowd of 20K fans. That British fighter schooled the guy that KTFO Khan. To top it off Katsidis is an all-action fighter who has a reputation for thrilling boxing fans.

Its a marketable fight. That's what you look for in a stay-busy fight. Especially that Khan wants it to happen in the UK. Mabuza or Peterson? makes no sense.
