Completely agree - Katsidis just battered a very well supported Brit in Mitchell, so on a domestic level - and in order to really develop a fan base in the UK and restore British pride etc - this is a good move and will generate more interest in the big bout nearer the end of the year.

THAT makes sense and I get the appeal and the business.

However, there are a certain amount of fans that treat boxing as more sport than business, therefore, Khan fans should expect the criticism if he takes on a 135lber who isn't particularly good in that division.

But what you say makes sense, if you're gonna have a tune-up fight, make it the most marketable tune-up fight you can find.

This is not a mismatch in size as some are trying to claim. Khan is only a year removed from campaigning as a lightweight, and Katsidis has fought several times above the lightweight limit. And I'm talking weigh-in weight, not even fight-night weight.
I'm as unconvinced as anyone that Khan has proven himself, but taking on and beating Katsidis would prove something to me. I don't think he can go the whole fight without getting tagged like he did Saturday. Kats style just won't permit it like Paulie's did.
I don't think he's ready for Alexander or Bradley yet, and beating a guy like Katsidis would do more in getting to that point than anything he's done so far.

Sounds great, make it happen, Mike will get a massive pay day and he would be crazy to knock back this fight.

It will be massive in england and sell out the big arena like MEN in Manchester or the O2 in London. the fight is a winner.

I'll give Khan props if he beats Katz. Good fight against a dangerous opponent.

Roach can say whatever the **** he wants, if Khan has the good 10 weeks is enough to train and get ready for a fight against an equal. All this need more planning bull**** is pathetic.

There is no reason a champ like Khan should be able to take on the likes of Victor Ortiz or Lamont Peterson in July. I look at Devon Alexander, right after he KO'd Urango the man is out there begging to fight Timmy to unify on the July date, yet Khan needs special time and treatment to get ready? LOL. Dumb ****s will believe anything.

Kat is a good power puncher opponent... good job for GB if they make this happen..
Kat will surely test Khan's chin and a preparation for the Maidana fight also..

this is like Smaller/Lighter Hatton vs Khan
Hope Kat can pull an upset though :yep

I tihnk people are really underrating Khan's chin based on one loss. Kinda reminds me of the great Lennox Lewis when he lost to Mccall.

I have a feeling that Khan's ability to avbsorb punches has improved due to his conditioniong and will still improve as he mature.

I think Khan would control Kats and break him down with a late stoppage. I'd love to be wrong though for obvious reasons.
