Schafer "Mayweather open to fighting Khan after Pacquiao"

Mayweather does not -- or at least did not -- want to fight Pacquiao. That seems extremely clear. Much as he never seemed interested in fighting Margarito, or Williams. Has he changed his mind about Pacquiao? I doubt it. Again, this seems to be about who gets blamed for a fight that never happens. Pacquiao's history with the Morales fight is known and clear. If Mayweather wanted to all-but-eliminate any PED effect yet have a cut off date, he could. But he doesn't seem to want that. I wonder why? Perhaps it's because he knows the Morales/Pac history and doesn't really want to fight Pacquiao and this is his cop-out? Why did Mayweather move away from a 14-day cutoff date? Why did Mayweather allegedly ignore the advice of his own medical expert(s) during the second negotiations? Do you think Mayweather knows more about PED's than the alleged expert(s) did?

It will be interesting to see if Arum signs Bradley. Jones is further down the road; he needs to be built up.

Ortiz appeared to quit against Maidana. With no injury. That, to me, is damaged goods. Good guy, fought with heart against Berto, but the Maidana debacle remains. And he gave up when the going was tough, not like Duran quitting when he was fine but felt outgunned against Leonard, and not because of injury like Klitschko against Byrd.

Again, the strategy of Team Pacquiao seems clear, and has worked, against fighters Mayweather has fought. Qualify it however you want, when the casual fan compares what Pacquiao did to De La Hoya and what Mayweather did, there is no comparison.

Mayweather fought Marquez at a higher weight. So, I guess if you are criticizing Pacquiao for fighting Marquez at a higher weight, you would also be criticizing Mayweather for doing the same.

I don't even have time to break down this entire post as it contains so much half truths and misinformation.

Fact of the matter is, if Mayweather never wanted to fight Pacquiao, he would've never agreed to the weight penalty, or the 50/50 split, and he would've never offered a 14 day cutoff(and offer that team Pac claimed they were fine with only months after it was taken off the table). We all saw him claim that his lack of clitoris gloves were the reason he lost Morales during the post fight interview, we all saw him take a blood test 24 days before the Hatton fight, we all saw him tell Brian Kenney he would be willing to be blood tested, just not the day of the fight.

Despite all this, the man had the nerve to ask for a 30 day cutoff. Pac has constantly changed his story regarding the issue and it was his side that cutoff negotiations and signed to fight someone else days later. Pac knows what he has to do to make this fight. He also knows he can keep claiming that he needs 30 days to recover from a blood test and many will believe him. All the pressure is on Mayweather here. If the fight doesn't get made, it will all be blamed on him. That means only one of these two men can duck the other without any consequences.

 

The question you should be asking is why did Pacquiao turn down the 14 day cutoff???

Only to hear him say on Espn with Brian Kenny That 15 days out he will be in heavy training and the blood test will affect his training.:nono
