Let's say 20 rounds, JJJ s time and rules and gloves.
I'm putting 500 quid down on Max Schmeling on points.
    Do I lose my cash??

As is mine. Jeffries was extremely tough and we'll conditioned so I wouldn't pick him to lose by stoppage but Max stopped multiple guys who were extremely tough in their own right so who knows.

Hard to say. I lean towards Jeffries.

Schmeling lost a lot of to no names. I doubt the wins. More film is needed in Jeffries.

    Good one George.
I don't personally see Max stopping him but then again, over the long period it's possible. Jeffries coming in and max getting in that tasty right. Over a long fight it adds up.

It’s not an unreasonable pick. Schmeling dealt with quite a few big punchers and was a highly skilled boxer. While Jim Jeffries was a force to be reckoned with his defense was questionable. Not sure who I’d pick myself but Schmeling has a good shot here

It's complicated matchup to me. Max had all the tools to counter Jeffries to death. Being hit by Schmeling isn't a nice thing, to say the least.

At the same time, Schmeling could struggle with high volume durable pressure fighters. Jeffries certainly wouldn't back down to Max and he seemed to have high output. Ot's possible that he could break Schmeling at some point.

50-50 fight to me, so I'd take Schmeling just because I'm biased fan of his :)

He's got to have to, for me. I just see Max smacking him, maybe not easily but enough to be confident in himself.

Too many loses and draw's for Max, some of these guys I never heard of.

Fair observation but Schmeling DID improve as his career went on and arguably beat better opposition than Jeffries

Could Jeff adapt to the rules of the era?

Sorry!- Well I think Jeff breaks him down, Just off his reputation and with what film we have of him in his time- it’s a short little slither of film he was very busy as we’ve read in the paper snippets and he’d be a far superior grappler, be bigger, stronger and know the rules better and possibly how to bend them.

I’d like to say Jeff’s more powerful but I’m not sure on that one... 20 rounds is also a long battle in “foreign waters” Max will be very uncomfortable. Jeff most likely just wears him down, as good as a boxer Max might be Jeff is gonna make him work, lean on him, wrestle and work his body for every single round and Schemling’s never quite faced the uniqueness a Jeffries would bring- maybe he’d win the rematch but I don’t think a first time victory is plausible.
