His title defense against DeJuan Johnson is an underrated great fight.

 

:deal The staredown was intense.

 

Got knocked down frequently by mediocre fighters, best win is against a faded Alexis Arguello moving up in weight, and cheated doing it. In addition to whatever was in the water bottle, very likely had loaded gloves for the fight. Struggled mightily against ATG's like Gary Hinton. Most overrated fighter in the history of boxing because of his sexy village people mustache and threatening pre-fight demeanor.

 

I don't know man I was really impressed by ever fight I saw, with or without the water bottle. Except for maybe two of those knockdowns it was mostly just running in and not really getting hurt, the same kind of stuff that happened to Hamed but he always made sure to put the hurt right on the guy. Unorthodox aggressive short guys are going to get caught coming in a lot like Hamed, Gamboa, Pryor, especially if their balance is weird. I'm surprised Pac hasn't gone down flash more often.

I think Pryor definitely belongs with the greats of his time period, and that is as an atg.

 

I hate cheating boxers. People's lives are on the line out there, and most boxing fans just act like Pryor never got caught. It throws everything he ever did into disrepute imho, God (and Panama Lewis) only knows what he got away with in there and what risks he took with other fighters lives.

 

Very over rated.

 

Not only that, he skip the urine test after the first AA fight, he was good but his best win is clouded by the mix bottle, and then Lewis got banned from boxing because the Resto debacle.
