I've been reading a bit about the mysterious figure that is Al Haymon. This guy came out of nowhere and now runs the sport. But tell me, what makes this guy so successful? How does a music promoter change lanes (I suppose the end game is the same: selling something) and RUN it within a short time? How powerful as a promoter was he in the music game? Sharp cats like Di Bella say he is VERY VERY smart. But what makes him so? The Harvard degree? The street knowledge? The ability to think ahead of the pack? I find him fascinating. I always have found figures who are POWERFUL yet borderline invisible to be fascinating. How long do you think he has left in the game?
Trowing a lot of other peoples money towards the sport, displaying it at free to watch channels. Good for boxfans at the moment, but only if he can keep trowing money at it for the long run.
It appears to be a great hustle job.Haymon gets to spend other peoples money who invest and get NO return-all the while Al picks up a 15% fee from the fighters purse plus a formidable weekly paycheck for managing the entire series. At the end of the day he makes out like a bandit-which is what he appears to be. I certainly am glad NOT to be an investor in this scam.:tired
