His pime years were just a tab before my time and a sort of mythic figure as the prototype Philly tough-guy fighter of the day. He held his own against the best but seemed to mostly come up short - by a hair - when it mattered the most. What I've seen on video, seems to be persistent and steady but not overwhelming. I know he has a lot of KOs but I'd gather more of them were from wearing down opponents than being a savage puncher. For those more familiar, what made him really good and what kept him from being good enough to get over against the top guys?
Prime Briscoe was a tough SOB, he could box, punch, take a good shot, never intimidated and was an experienced tough guy. One of my favorite Philly fighters
didn't lose as many fights as his record says due to being a willing opponent, did usually lose to the top guys though. the mustafa muhamad fight is worth watching( its on youtube as is quite a few of his fights).
Been watching some of his fights and he looks the real deal to me. That right hand he hit Monzon with was a *******!
