I'm not a serious collector but I've bought from some. I far more interesting in seeing what's out there then storing a film, or VHS tape away. 10 free tips: 1. Seek out the top experts on certain fighters, chances are they might have some semi rare to rare films. 2. Seek out bidding boards like ebay, and other like it. There can be rare stuff on it, others can be seen on youtube. It's not too hard to covert film to DVD these days for a price. I doubt even Klompton has seen 8mm ~ Girlie Boxing / Wrestling - CUMBERLAND BOXING. I don't see it on his list. Boxing Collectors don't alway have the best ethics, but if you have enough money that should not matter some of them literally hate each other! Don't take a side, you can work with both, just keep yer yap shut about who said what. Half the time its not true anyway, 4 . Advanced tip, make sure you get one really good rare fight. You can trade that one over and over again for something. If you're a serious collector. 5. Never post what you have for free if its rare, it will **** the collectors off and hey won't deal with you again...unless you have enough money. 6 ) Advanced tip, go in with friends and pool you money to obtain the expensive stuff, just keep that to your self. It's the best way to build up. Share that one with no one 7 ) Every so often a known collector dies and his wife or son unloads the entire thing for dirt cheap. Ambulance chasing, but that's what collectors do. 8 ) Public libraries are gold mines, and free. You can take, rent or stream stuff. Also achieved news paper magazines have some rare boxing footage. Don't underestimate foreign papers, they can have rare film too. 9 ) The rarer the film, the less likely a collector is willing to part with it. Ask for a snap shot to confirm a film exists. 10 ) If you find a clear copy of Jeffries vs Sharkey 2, PM ASAP, and first. Good luck, and if you buy stuff be sure to store it correctly.
