Michalczewski beat 3 top 5 Lightheavyweights in Leo Barber (WBO champ, 19-1), Montell Griffin (former WBC champ, 38-2), and Virgil Hill (WBA champ, IBF champ, Lineal champ, 43-1).

Also had some decent wins over Rocky, Giovannini (WBO Cruiserweight champ), Richard Hall, Derrick Harmon, etc.

I would say he is a HOF fighter, not a true ATG though.

15 straight KOs in title fights post Virgil Hill. No wonder Jones never wanted to fight this guy.

If there was a fight that the whole Pac/Floyd spectacle remind me of, it's the fight between Jones & DM that never materialized.

Anyone who is trying to diss DM are nothing but teenagers who don't know much about boxing. DM is not as highly ranked as Roy, but he was a pretty good fighter. He was a 2 division champion, unified the titles and beat some very good fighters, including Virgil Hill and Montel Griffin, who beat James Toney. In fact, he beat 2 fighters who beat James Toney.

His struggles and defeats came when he was past his prime, just like how many of Jones' humiliations came after his prime. I wish they have fought each at their primes. It was the fight the boxing world was clamoring for back then.

Overated as ****. Good fighter but the fact that he even gets brought up as someone Jones ducked is already giving him too much credit. Anyone that cannot see that this guy was tailor made for Jones DKSAB. Richard Hall yall Richard Hall!!! C'mon son!

They basically had the same resume with a few diffrent names thrown in ..Neither man was afraid of the other but neither man would bow down to the other ..

That was the one who was a real man at LHW while Jones was AWARDED of other peoples belts because he already was #1 p4p fighter and a golden egg for HBO.

Both fighters are clearly Hof worthy.

Michigan Warrior, the fact that you are unaware of and cannot properly, spell the name of one of the best lhw's of the past few decades just goes to show how much boxing knowledge you have....

Lets face it, Roy was an amazing athlete. Is he an ATG "Boxer"? To me, no

The difference between Roy Jones and DM is that Roy was flashy and DM was systematically dismantling opponents ala JCC taking some punishment to deliver his.

I am amongst those who belive that RJJ was untouchable in his prime, but I wont cut him slack for not fighting dangerous opponents like DM or Jirov or Hopkins rematch (back when they were both in their primes).

The problem that I have with comments like these is the fact that Roy Jones Junior being the best fighter in the world p4p for such a long time was fighting very average opposition (I am not the one to call them bums, policemen, garbage men - but they were average). Dariusz Michalczewski won LHW WBO title in 1994 against Leeonzer Barber (DM was 23-0 21kos), defended this title 23 times till 2003 when he was 48-0. During these defenses also captured WBA, IBF titles in 1997 when he was at his best. Roy Jones during this time fought some respectable names but nowhere near the class of DM. So to say that DM cannot be mentioned as someone who Roy ducked is just riddiculous and ignorant.

The fact that people have to defend or build him up with a fight that never even happened sahould answer the ts question. Let's put it this way Jones was attacked and bashed for fighting the same guys that DM could barely beat and lost to.

The truth about the Jones vs DM fight is that unlike the Floyd Pac thing is no one outside of germany and Poland gave a ****. While dm's promotion company UBP would use the "next we want jones" line to cover the fact that he fought one average fighter after the last, jones nor hbo ever really took him serious. Larkin once said in a Ring interveiw that they called kohls and asked what would it take to make the fight happen. They never got a return call. He stated in the interveiw were still waiting. He went on to say that he never thought they would allow dm to fight Jones. That they were only interested in making fans think they wanted the fight

Boxing is business. DM was making very good money in Germany and was a star there. I dont blame him for wanting big money in the showdown against RJJ if he were to travel to America. Btw DM is a multimillionaire now, made much more money in business than he made as a boxer. I dont know how much money RJJ has kept and why he is still fighting.
