Lets go classic, break this guy down for me. Best punch or punches. Strengths, weaknesses or similarities to other fighters. What ever you got I am all eyes lol, thanks.
I will start bay saying that he is largely misunderstood as a fighter. He is best known for his two brilliant wins over Jack Dempsey, and the mobile defensive style that he employed in them. He was forced to adopt this strategy because going after Dempsey would have been suicidal, and it was somewhat different from his usual approach. If you look at him in other fights, then a picture of a much more offensively orientated fighter emerges!
As a huge boxing fan for over 30 years now I've always had the most passion for the heavyweights, they've always been my favorite. I've got career fight collections for every heavyweight during my era which I complied on my own. And I collected anything and everything I could on most all others. Ali, Holmes, Louis and on and on you know the list. This was before the days of the internet back when trading fights with other collectors was something we listed in the backs of boxing mags like Boxing Illustrated. We swapped lists via actual "mail" lol. Tunney is one I never really studied much, I have the Dempsey fights and have watched them but I don't know much about him as a whole. Which is the point of this thread. Keep anything you got coming classic!!
