Smith Jr has very good power when he lands clean - but it's rare that he does that. We know Beterbiev is susceptible to being caught early, so it's not too unlikely that Smith Jr drops him like Callum Johnson did, but I think its extremely-unlikely that Smith Jr is somehow going to stop Beterbiev with big shots before Arutr wakes up and makes him pay for his wildness and total inability to properly manage the distance to his opponent. I don't think Smith Jr hits any harder than Callum Johnson does. I've got Arur by TKO Rds 5-7. It woudn't shock me if it's earlier, though, because I think even a sleepy Beterbiev will recognize Smith Jr's propensity to be wild and miss by miles.
Maybe you're not particularly familiar with him, I dunno, but Callum Johnson is certainly a puncher, of which there is ample testimony from his peers. He underwhelmed last time out, but, prior to that, he'd only ever gone the distance in four-rounders.
Callum Johnson is a massive puncher. He also has been. Do you just make stuff up? You spent ages arguing that Beterbiev was a heavyweight.
Its very hard to knock people out when they see everything coming. If a fighter sees a shot coming and blocks or partially blocks the shot and it still hurts them then you know they have power.
He hits just as hard as a NOT CAUTIOUS Gvozdyk. This is one of the most hilarious knockdowns I've ever seen. It was like Cummings was walking down the street, and got shot in the side of the head with a double barrelled shotgun. This content is protected Reminiscent of MI3. This content is protected
Apparently I missed all the Callum Johnson fights where he was a massive puncher ... with his showy 66 percent KO percentage, and all. I guess stopping a little more than half the guys you fight is MASSIVE PUNCHER these days.
Beterbiev is a massive puncher. Joe Smith has gone the distance with a lot of guys who aren't anything special.
Smith hit that journeyman, who was out on his feet, for two minutes straight and couldn't put him away. Gvozdyk fought the same guy the fight before and stopped him in the same round. Beterbiev ended Gvozdyk's career.
BoxRec doesn't tell the whole story. Until Johnson's last bout, he'd only been the distance in four-round fights early in his pro career. Outside of that, he's either knocked guys out or been knocked out (Beterbiev). He is a puncher, which is why he rang Beterbiev's bell and sat him on his ass where a guy like Gvozdyk (who isn't a light hitter) couldn't. Beterbiev isn't an easy man to knock down, unless we're putting store in that sloppy, careless trip he took to the canvas against Jeff Page. If you were referring to me, and not George, I'm not getting those guys mixed up. They're former sparring partners in the Gallagher camp and I used to live not very far from Johnson. Don't be misled by their respective last outings. Johnson is absolutely the bigger puncher of the two.
