Only 24, been watching boxing since Tyson Bruno 2 but never seen much of Johny, The guys always on ringside and the little footage I have seen he looked decent, tall slim guy with decent power and good shots.

How do you think Nelson vs Haye would go at cruiser?

Had a real slow start to his career travelled all round the world fighting everyone to be fair to the guy. This led to an extremily long reign as cruiserweight champion, had a couple bad injuries towards the end of his career.

His nickname the Entertainer was really a gross exaggeration

I remember watching an old Eubank fight and the commentaeor saying if Eubank and Nelson fought it would be very likely that it would be the first fight ever where no punch was thrown

He must be the only well known brit world champ of recent years that I never watched fight, or have watched. Read his book just because I heard it was so good and I wasn't disappointed

He spent too much time fighting bums in Germany.

He's a wanker, wasn't much of a fighter, and is responsible for one of the most dull fights ever broadcast in history. I have never understood why Sky employ him - he offers nothing of interest to the programming, has no technical analysis and talks over the guests.

    Did I mention he's a wanker?

In his prime...the most boring fighter alive P4P

However..he did those boring things very well. Technically he was very good. He was a very good fighter he didnt really do anything badly. He was just boring as **** to watch

One of the best CW of all-time, a good commentator and sports pundit.

I agree, twice in 13 years is twice too many.....if you are going to criticise at least make it constructive and preferably factual

    fought great against thompson.

then reverted back to type in the countless defences of his title he had.

always remember that defence he had with the aussie boxer adam watt.

for 5 rds he barely did f*ck all and then took him out with a big right hand. :yep

    kinda summed him up really.

    he had some ability.

but always that cautious streak. :bart

  12. He was better at boxing than he is at commentating/analysing/presenting.

I think dftaylor is being slightly harsh on him calling him a wanker, first impression are everything, I met him in Hamburg at the Haye-Wlad weigh in and he was sound, spoke to the punters for a bit.

but as a boxer he was a medical marvel..............

.........in the sense that he cured insomnia
