How did he get the mantle of being this ****ing brutal to **** puncher? Who in and around his division has comparable power? G-Man? Benn? I've seen clips of the man, but what was his ko percentage? Who did he stop that was considered to have an iron jaw etc? Also, how far did jj go? How far could he of gone? Fights you would of like to of seen him in?
G Man.... Hearns... But Jackson could unleash that power with great form and from either fist. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kyi57mKkVs&feature=related[/ame]
Other punchers, like G-man, had great power - naturally heavy handed, very explosive etc, but they definitely had a money short or two - Hearns' right hand for example. Jackson had crazy power in both hands, and he seemed to have the power at any range and angle. He could throw a short left hook/cut as he was sidestepping and it was just as powerful as when he corked his right hand and sent a long one down the pipe. Also, a lot of guys get their pwoer from loading up and swinging, Jackson just seemed to have it inately - like, he'd struggle NOT to hit hard if asked. He gets a lot of **** for having a weak chin but I dont really buy it to be honest; he only crumbled against some ****ing HEAVY hitters.
He had scary 1 shot power in BOTH hands Ive never seen equalled in my lifetime. A walking highlight reel, it will be a long time before we see a harder p4p puncher.
When you watch Jackson punch, his punches land with a thud. He turned over his hooks well with a snap at the point of impact. Probably the hardest hitter we've seen at 154, and definitely up there at 160 as well. G-Man was up there of course to with the hardest hitters at MW. McClellan was just too big for Jackson (who had already suffered serious eye problems as well). G-Man was notorious for his massive weight-cutting, just look at the size of him as a MW. Hugest middleweight I've ever seen.
When you look at a highlight video of him, you see that he put a lot of guys to sleep with one shot. The kind of knockouts some power-punchers only get once in their career - where the other guy just goes limp and crumbles - he produced again and again. I think he had more power than the G-Man and hit harder at 154 and 160 than Hearns, although Hearns did.
herol graham was giving him a boxing lesson until jackson landed that one shot. bang. graham's body went limp and he was knocked clean out the second the shot landed, he was on the canvas quite some time. i remember watching that fight, live. what a punch.
Unreal power. Many times he knocked his opponents out cold before they even reached the canvas. One of the best punchers PFP of all time though his lack of punch resistance gets highlighted too much as a recent thread on the Classic forum showed. Not against Jackson's level of competition but who knows what would have happened in Valero's career had he gone on and not succumb to his personal demons.
Valero was beast but Jackson was a level above him as a puncher imo. All the training in the world cant teach power like they had.
Most if not all of JJ's KOs ended with the opponent on the canvas. Not standing stoppages... either they were sleepin or just ****ed up in genereal and on their back. Ask Terry Norris and Herol Graham among others, the dude had a natural born gift of causing unconsciousness with one punch.
yea, thats the crazy thing about Jackson, usually, you have a fighter with a powerful left hook (Frazier, Trinidad) and then you have fighters with a powerful right hand (Lennox, Hearns) but Julian Jackson had DECAPATATING power in both hands, scary, scary fighter he was :deal
