I vaguely remember the guy growing up...

How would he have fared against Naz, Marquez and other good fighters of his time at his weight?

Fights to watch of his are?

    His best and worst attributes?

Fights you wish you could have saw be made with him?

    How would he fare today?

    LOL

Are you writing a reference book on 80-90s boxers.

For Jones, see Roger Mayweather except busier punch output and more mechanical/less fluid

He was a great athlete and boxer but vulnerable, quite a bad chin for this level.
He was involved in many very good/ great fights : Johnson II, Canizales, Barrera I & II, McKinney, Morales, Evatt, Ingle...
Him against Naz or Kelley would have been fun to watch !

To be totally frank, he was a man who was not that talented and didn't really belong at the top level, however due to styles he was able to beat MAB. That being said MAB wasn't that great then either, he just went on to become great and MAB very nearly brawler his way to victory in the rematch.

But Jones was a one dimensional straight punching athletic type in my mind and he was fortunate he got to MAB before his transition to elite boxer puncher.

I've had half a bottle of teachers saying this so I could be way off the mark.

Great physical talent but not particularly skilled. Had a bad chin and questionable stamina, two weaknesses that he exacerbated by keeping his left very low and loading up on way too many punches. Loading up also hurt his balance and made him look awkward at times. I wouldn't pick him to survive against any elite featherweights like Naz or Marquez. He would lose to the top fighters today too but blast out a lot of lesser fighters.
