Good guy or scumbag? Who are the best Boxers that he has had on his side? How long has he been around? Where does he rank in terms of promoters? (GBP = No.1 etc) Best/Biggest/Worst fights that he has had a hand in?
Mostly good. A real boxing guy. Did a great job working for HBO, starting off BAD and making it the best show in boxing. Left the company when they appointed Greenberg and Davis and HBO has been on the downslide since. Not so sure about him as a promoter, but he seems to care about the fighters, and definitely cares about the sport.
Seems to have a genuine concern for fighters. Remember watching the Hatton vs Malignaggi fight where he said if McGirt hadn't pulled out Paulie he would have.
Seems like a good guy to me. Probably the only promoter I like. He does a lot for hard working fighters that otherwise may have never got a break. Seems to believe in second chances too.
these...^ its a shame HBO black balled him, he doesn't have nearly as much pull in the sport as he used and should have...
Speaks his mind.. Doesn't seem as slimey as Arum or King.. Wears diamond earrings.. Liked him when I saw him going ape**** at some Super Six meeting & from the Malignaggi days.. Brought back Broadway Boxing.. :bbb
Good guy, but everybody has their faults. This guy is the same guy that brought us the Jermain Taylor mismatches and so forth, but then complains when his fighters can't get a soft touch.
He really maximized Malignaggis career too. Got him title shots that I dont think any other promoter would have made the effort to. Lost some respect for Paulie the way he talked **** about Lou after they split.
Thats how Paulie is, was always gonna open his big mouth at the end of the day.. saw that theyve put it behind them now in an interview with LDB. Lou seems to actually love boxing, by bringing back BB, as opposed to the King & Arum.
I'm sure he's a SOB at times and an egomaniac, but he does appear to actually love the sport, and fights very hard for his fighters. Compared to slimy Arum he's a saint.
