How good was he in his prime?

Where do you rank him at LHW on an all-time basis?

How would he fare in today's LHW division?

Did he fight at CW? If not, how would he have fared there had he fought there?

His most notable wins are? And how good were they at the time and now?

Fights he should have had/you would have liked to have seen him had that never happened?

At LHW he was superb really marvelous, I'd say top 5 of all time.

In today's I think he'd be #1 although Kovalev would be a tough fight.

He never fought at CW but I'd see him vs Holy as a 50/50

His best win was the 1st Holmes fight, also the ****ey performance was impressive, he also beat Quawi and some other notables.

Don't know why he folded so easy vs Tyson, but he shouldn't be underrated for it.

He was an excellent LHW, with only one loss in the way of 31 fights. That single loss at the hands of a fired up Mike Tyson was a good win for Mike, as many, including myself, expected him to last longer than he did. Looking at his eyes and face before the bout, I think he bottled it, and wanted the obvious end to come sooner rather than later. Still a great LHW, he was simply out of his depth.

Mike Spinks don’t be lookin like a gangbangin' fighter n' shiznit yo. Dude be lookin like a cold-ass lil hoopty mechanic.

A phat hoopty mechanic. Da type of hoopty maniac dat gets it from his hoe fo' knockin scrilla off, fo' playas whoz ass is thugged-out wit him, fo' playas whoz ass might be skanky fo' realz. A sick mutha****a; but not a gangbangin' fighter.

Dude looked like a mechanic, like a sick mutha****a, even afta Larry Holmes threw his ass ta tha ground up in tha openin secondz of they 1986 rematch. “That’s all gravy ref,” he reassured Mills Lane. “That’s all gravy.” Unequaled up in termz of temperament, tha pimpin' mutha****a then gots back ta tha thang at hand, takin tha fight on two of tha three judges’ cardz against a hyper-aggressive version of one of tha top billin heavyweights up in forever: mission accomplished.

This is what tha **** defines Mike Spinks. Professionalism. Generalship. Generalshizzle is da most thugged-out professionizzle aspect of a funky-ass boxer’s make-up"the discipline of engineerin tha circumstances necessary fo' yo' victory. In just thirty-two fights he bigged up a level of awarenizz up in tha rang dat take tha few pimps whoz ass reach dat level nuff mo' fights ta do so yo. His herky-jerky steez n' hurtful rather than devastatin punchin was so properly nursed as ta make his ass a ghetto-beater n' shiznit yo. His 1983 light-heavyweight unification fight wit Dwight Muhammad Qawi (then Dwight Braxton) was a masterclass, movin ta his bangin right wit tha uncanny discipline of a cold-ass lil game soldier, n' only throwin his bangin right hand as a cold-ass lil counta ta tha Qawi right hand, takin away his crazy-ass man’s dopest punch n' dopest draw wit readz n' discipline ridin' solo.

Between 1981 n' 1988 he engaged only up in ghetto title fights (uncertaintizzles surroundin his crazy-ass masterful five-round knockout of tha thirty-pound heavier Gerry ****ey notwithstanding) n' wit tha exception of tha one-round devastation wrought upon his ass by Mike Tyson da thug won dem all fo' a total of 15-1 yo. His run at light-heavyweight included wins over Qawi, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad n' Yaqui Lopez n' his step up ta heavyweight was as solid as any eva made by a light-heavyweight. Michael’s bust up in early retirement, scrilla n' game intact, was tha sport’s loss yo, but even up in such a gangbangin' finger-lickin' dirty-ass short space of time da thug was up in tha game da ruffneck did enough ta git a place up in tha top fifty.

You might want to converse in English McGrain instead of your street corner ebonics BS!! :patsch
To the original poster, not 'jive-ass'.
Had Eddie Gregory (Mustafa Muhammad) had his head on straight he would have beaten Spinks when he took the title.
A much more interesting fighter, not to mention better.
Prior to the Spinks defense he had to go into a pressure cooker to lose 20 pounds in about 3 days prior after gaining 15-20 lbs. to fight at HW against Snipes a few months earlier.
Little known fact: The Associated Press scored the Jinx-Eddie s**** a draw despite the fact that Eddie entered the ring looking like a shriveled pear.
To be fair Michael Spinks was a great Lt. Heavy with an abundance of tools.
Now, can we go back to speaking our native tongue McGrain?

You don't know **** about Ebonics ignance. There wasn't an Ebonic phrase in that whole statement.. And your ass is way too ignorant for an actual example of the Phonetic concept of literacy. Give me one example of an Ebonic mechanism in the English language ! Can you do that ? Hell no ! Can any Chinese English student ? Hell yel ! Another reason why the Chinese is America's Daddy !!! Institutional racism = Ignorance....
