How good was he? How good could he have been? Fights which he should have been involved in etc?

I know paul. Really quiet guy, doesnt say much. Great angles, he had the best jab in the lightweight division back in the day, good uppercut. He lacked power because of a bullet in his leg, you see when he walks he has a limp. Recently moving up in weight he looks stronger than ever suprisingly, had a lot of alcohol problems but doing okay now.

He had/has a beautiful style. Didn't seem like the most durable fighter though. I'd like to see him get another big fight.

I think at best he would have been a Casamayor level lightweight.

He had some smooth moves and a decent enough jab and combo punching ability, but he didn't have any real weapon to beat an exceptional lightweight like Floyd. He would have been in live contests with the Corrales and Castillos of the lightweight world though imo. Possibly beating the former (if his chin holds up, which I think it would) and losing tightly to the latter.

Speaking of Spadafora, what did folks here think about the Dorin fight?

I'm in the minority in thinking Paul won it.

The UK feed was biased as **** against Spadafora I felt, which may have coloured viewers perception of the fight.

I was at the Dorin fight back in the day. I was young an it was a long time ago, some felt dorin won, some felt paul won. He was trying to fight dorins fight an trading with him. I had it a draw when i watched it a rewatched it a while ago. Alot of action. I do know paul was drained as hell an was about to move up, he also had a lot of things goin on. he went away not long after that.

Paul took some massive head shots, but I think his plan of standing in and landing some good body shots ultimately worked. I think he took most of the rounds in the second half of the fight...

He did look quite sluggish though and yeah as you say, there was a lot of stuff happening in the background...

As a human he is ****ing scum. I live in good old Johnstown PA, close to Pittsburgh..its funny how many people in the boxing community are in love with the guy...I suspect half of them masterbate to his sparring mayweather video. THe other thing is, its funny how no one around here will talk about how he shot a girl. Not just because its old news either...i literally have met a few younger fighters (guys in their 20s) who dont know it happened...and I will be like "yeah the scum bag shot his girlfriend in the stomach" and they are like "what? huh? I never heard that?"...

I remember he almost got decapitated in the third round of his fight with Victoriano Sosa of their fight. Fortunately for Spaddie, Sosa completely sleepwalked through the rest of the fight.

Spadafora had a classic style of moving in and out with very fluid combinations.

Shouldnt say things about people you dont know an something you werent their to see thats all ill say. As far as the sparring he says it was just sparring and thinks nothing of it. Funny part was Floyd Jr, sr an his entourage came into the gym talking all this ****. They wanted to spar. Funny how everybody says floyd was out of shape yet they wanted to spar so bad an he got handled. After that he said he was out of shape. lol...

I don't need to know someone on a personal level to call them scum when they shot their girlfriend in the stomach.

Pernell Whitaker was signed on to train him a few years back. I thought it was a good idea. Any idea whatever became of that?
